Well then that's even worse. I think its personal opinion but if he was trying his best and was still not very good (*cough awful cough*) then doesn't that show something? Bad value all round

Correct.Athers wrote:I've been pro-Elmander all the way through and can't be bothered with a passionate defence of him as this argument will probably run on forever, but to sum up:
Bad value - yes.
Bad player - no.
But it took him till this season to be willing to go "where it hurt" and it showed once he did. But this season showed what he COULD be .... though to be honest after the Newcastle (home) match, when he was exceptional, he faded again. He rediscovered some foirm once he covered for Holden, but even that was spasmodic.
He'll be a "nearly man" for me.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

I hope he isn't booed either. I don't expect him to get a rousing reception but it doesn't reflect well on us as a club to be booing our own players- even if they are leaving.
I expect Cahill will get a great reception, Gardner obviously will and if he's doesn't break down trying to walk around the pitch, even Joey O'Brien will get a few claps, so it would be a shame to wreck that by targeting one bloke who as has been said, fulfilled every day of the contract he was given. Even if the end product was often lacking, it can't be said that he didn't turn up and put a shift in when asked.

Agreed, although I don't rate him, I certainly would not BOO him.jimbo_bwfc wrote:I hope he isn't booed either. I don't expect him to get a rousing reception but it doesn't reflect well on us as a club to be booing our own players- even if they are leaving.

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
I really hope Gardner stays at the club, he's been brilliant (all things considered), in the last few games and although i doubt he'll get a first team place week in/week out once everyone is fit but he'd be brilliant on rotation or as a late sub.

Funny how the "over the hill", "never quite made it in the Prem" players end up in Turkey ain't it? Sounds just the right place for Mandy to go to and die the death of a thousand sitters!
Do they have cows and barns in Turkey?
£8.5 million of rubbish, an Allegro bought to replace a Roller, not fit to polish Anelka's boots.
GOOD RIDDANCE

Are you saying that from now on every sriker we get has to be as good as Anelka? Cos you're gonna be very, very dissappointed if you think that.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
Bolton manager Owen Coyle is aiming to use the funds freed up by Johan Elmander's imminent departure to bring in a signature signing.
Elmander, 29, is ready for a new challenge in Turkey with Galatasaray when his contract ends next month.
The Sweden striker is expected to play his last game for the club on Sunday against Manchester City after scoring 12 goals in all competitions this season.
High on Coyle's list is a ready-made replacement and the Glasgow-born boss had made no secret of his admiration for Daniel Sturridge.
The 21-year-old has weighed in with eight goals in 12 appearances after arriving on from loan in January.
Coyle said: "I would love to have players of that stature at the club and I will leave no stone unturned to do that. We all recognise how finance can help you.
"If Johan goes that will free up a lot of finance because he was our record signing and on a terrific contract.
"That is money I can use to bring exciting young players to the club and that has to be my aim and I will do all I can to achieve it."
Elmander scored only 10 goals in his first two seasons after arriving from Toulouse for £8.5million only to blossom under Coyle and his coaching staff.
Coyle said: "Prior to us arriving I don't think anyone at Bolton would have had a half a mind to offer Johan a new contract.
"We came in and for whatever reason Johan has found his real form and shown the player he is. All of a sudden the situation swings.
"But Johan is in the last year of his contract and he's really in control of his destiny."
Coyle has already held preliminary budget talks with chairman Phil Gartside and added: "Players come and go. It happens every summer. What you have to do is be forward thinking.
"You have to make make sure you have targets in place that can come in and make a smooth transition, blend in with the squad.
"Who is to say I am not out there and have a couple of Bosmans lined up myself? But I am not naming any names."

Elmander and Sturridge out, leaves a forward line of Davies and Klasnic, with bugger all on the bench.

Re: Elmander signs for Galatasaray
I have also supported elmander and sang his praises to my freinds and family and pretty much everyone criticising him for years, and allthough i wont be booing him i can understand why some would, He cost us a lot for our club size he has underperfored alot! and hes left us for more money because seriously like is allready said in this thread turkish fans wont be forgiving even on a free transfer and turkish football is nowhere near prem level.
hes taken the easy way out id have more respect if he had found himself a big club or aeven a small club willing to pay him fair wages but clearly hes gone for the wages which makes me think after all this hes just a merc afterall and wont be missed by me!
