Re: Elmander has a paddy
What would you have preferred him to say?
At the time he was moved, he was our top scorer and still in relative form. We brought in someone in his position instead of the positions we actually needed cover and moved our top scorer around to accommodate a loanee and our below-par Captain.
Not exactly going to be enamoured with that is he?

probably not - but it sounds arsey to whine about it after you've gone rather than maintain a dignified silence and get on with your new job....

Or it's his way of saying "yes, I was marginally shit at my old place. But there are reasons, honest, so don't worry - I'll be your man up top"

Marginally shit?
Marginally?
He had about a dozen good games in 3 years.
Thats a very generous margin you're giving him.
I hope he ends up at Sheffield Wednesday, then he'll really have something to complain about.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Yeah, that was one almighty paddy.
He's speaking the truth though isn't he.

Re: Elmander has a paddy
I'm guessing he was just answering the questions put to him...as opposed to grabbing some random person off the street, and them making them sit down while he pored his heart out to them about Bolton Wanderers.

he was played out of position - that's true - but whether or not he would have scored many more goals if played in his favoured position is a moot point...
he won't prove that by whining now - he will come closer to making a point worth listening to if he just gets on with his new job and scores lots of goals.. (of course - even then he won't prove what might have happened at Bolton...)
if I was him - I'd have waited until I'd made a success of myself in my new job before making excuses about my old one...

He didn't say he'd have scored more though, he just wanted to prove himself.thebish wrote:he was played out of position - that's true - but whether or not he would have scored many more goals if played in his favoured position is a moot point...keveh wrote:Yeah, that was one almighty paddy.![]()

He wasn't making an excuse either, all he's saying is that he wish he'd played up front more and not out of position.
People are reading words that aren't even there, just to have a dig.

Re: Elmander has a paddy
He didn't exactly have much of a blast really, and then there's journalism of course.......He was at least willing to play wherever he was put. Good luck to him for me. Course there's always the "I wish I'd never left Bolton" angle to fall back on.

Look - no-one would think to read the post, if it wasn't entitled as something that it wasn't and didn't have some added and fairly spurious sensationalism.keveh wrote:Yeah, that was one almighty paddy.![]()

If the knuckle draggers didn't have something like this to get all indignant about, they'd only find something else.
Think it's great that they're getting all het up about a player that isn't ours anymore, rather than picking one of our players to have their own little paddy's about.

indeed. "I'm focussing hard on the part I have to play at Galatassaray. I had a great time at Bolton, but a new chapter has opened in my life and I hope to seize the opportunity with both feet."Choppers wrote:"I don't play for Bolton Wanderers any more, so talking about them would be unfair, next question".hisroyalgingerness wrote:What would you have preferred him to say?

Re: Elmander has a paddy
It's possible that his goalscoring ratio has been noticed as a trifle low for a full-time forward, so he's doing a bit of PR.
Or it's just a quote or two being stretched a little too far from context.
Anyways, meh.

When I first saw this post I thought Elmander had had a dust up in the local Irish club.
