What are you eating and drinking tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Fantastic

Have they done the 'Duck up? I heard it was closed.

It was definitely closed for much of the last 18 months, maybe longer, and all of last summer.

How did the decor look HRG? Last time i was in it was tired, tired, tired... out.

If it's back in op and with food it's the return of a local icon, and v gd news for walkers. :D

It was open in March, I can tell that much. Wasn't that much impressed with the ale at the time, but as it gets busy in the summer that should probably sort itself out.

Tonight, thanks to partner, was red pepper and lime soup followed by spicey chicken salad, with jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, gherkins and tabasco... Portuguese White from alentejo.

nice. :D

Had a rare treat at work today. Some old friends of the owners turned up, so we did a few "tastings" from the public and private wine cellars after sunday lunch.

Tasted some Monte Real Rioja Gran Reservas ('98, '01) against 2 other years ('97 and '02) (can't remember the mark, its not one I'm familiar with). Then we did some tastings of Loire Valley whites samples as potentials for the new menu. A couple of South African Pinotages (highlight for me being the cheapest, False Bay - high on alcohol, but as close to a French Pinot as I've tasted from overseas). Threw in a couple of English wines because it was a nice sunny day. They're not going on because the reception was mixed, and the mark up is low.

Then to top it off, I tried to trump them all with my own bottle of St Mont white. At 4.50 euros it was easily the bargain of the day. They weren't having it, so it'll remain my secret. Still think it was the second best wine after the 2001 Rioja.

Hangovers just wearing off now.

My question is - is it acceptable to grate cheese into the pre-cooked egg mix, and is there anything else in the average student's (bare) kitchen that you can stick in to improve the quality?

Went to pizza hut with some mates. Great deal: a fiver for a starter, a pizza, salad and a drink. Good food too. :D

For a fiver. It's not exactly Michelin starred but it tastes good to me!

True, I have an irrational hatred of Pizza Hut though since I went to one in Leeds for lunch years ago and I had an awful bout of food poisoning. Can't bear to go back through the doors since then! Not that I went through them much before as I always thought it was fairly tasteless.

Chilli Con Carne, extra kidney beans, bring it on.

Oh, and it's Friday, so a nice Gran Reserve Rioja.
Uma mesa para um, faz favor. Obrigado.
