The World Cup

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Wow. First I've watched of it all was extra time and pens. They need to change something, pitch size, goal size, whatever, coz it's fecking rubbish.

All right Sep.

Seriously though, those penalties were embarrasing, the keepers are STILL shite (presumably because instead of talent, being 6 foot gets you in, to avoid ten shots a game drifting over your head and in) and the defending for both goals was farcical. Yes there is good play in there, and some very good players technically, but overall it was a bit shit.

Japan v Germany was excellent, Japan knocking out the hosts and favourites.

The English team just isn't very good, much like the men they are over-hyped, and the manager Powell is useless, taking off two full backs with 10 minutes left was a baffling decision. Much like Mr.Pearce she seems to keep her job while not being very good at it. Obviously with Smith being injured and no replacement subs available the French should have beat England before the pens anyway.

Spent the entire second half screaming for them to knock it long. You could hear her.

Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Oh, England.

Wish us luck against the Swedes.

Made me wonder what it was like when not so long back an average bloke was a lot smaller. They can't have chosen to have goals 8 feet high with the giant keepers of today in mind. Lobbing must have been a lot bigger part of the game?!

Team has great attacking spirit but not a lot you can do when your defenders lay on inch-perfect throughballs for their forwards. If we had two decent centrebacks we'd have this game.

I saw the end of a game the other day, a japanese player was getting substituted, she turns around and trots away from the camera and on her back is... "Oh No"

Ohno is my player of the tournament, mainly because of her name.

Some of the shooting has been woeful, but we can't really be too vocal about shooting on this board. The thing that gets me is the small stuff, like foul throw-ins.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.
