Not sure how many starts he's got in the PL. He's always played in the shadow of Torres and perhaps needs a run as a first team regular. At 6'3", young and pacy he may be what we are looking for. I assume we have scouted him thoroughly and they see a fit.seanworth wrote:I know we seem desperate right now but can't get overly excited about the possibility of landing Ngog. He always looked good when playing European competition but in the PL he always looked crap to me.

Is not beyond the realm of possibilty. Liverpool were rumoured to be looking last week IIRC.Relentless09 wrote:15 million plus N'gog for Cahill ?

19 goals in 94 games for Liverpool, according to Wiki (not sure about starts)Wandering Willy wrote:Not sure how many starts he's got in the PL. Which is pretty relevant for a player who has been used as a sub a lot. I'll look around and see if I can find some starting stats. (Unless Worthy's around).

Some of the clubs that were interested must feel they need Cahill this season, not next season

From what I see Ngog has 40 starts in 94 appearances over 3 years.
9 goals in 21 Starts in the PL ( 42 sub appearances).

2 league cup goals and 8 europe comp goals.Wandering Willy wrote:From what I see Ngog has 40 starts in 94 appearances over 3 years.

As I said, in Europe he has impressed but I've not been impressed by his PL games. Also seem to recall several of his Liverpool goals were as subs in a game clearly already won by Liverpool.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Given a run out in the squad and so much needed Coyle flattery I think N'Gog would be a decent signing

YES !Annoyed Grunt wrote:So you're saying the lack of signings is due to the amount of pages this thread is?mullayo wrote:QUOTE page 123: TKIZ, this thread is at 122 (mostly pointless) pages. In light of an actual transfer happening in the next day or so, shouldn't you start another (guaranteed to be much more successful) thread lest the bad luck from this one haunts us still?
Why didn't you listen to me? 70+ pointless pages without a signing because you wouldn't clean the slate and start again! You're killing us TKIZ!
Do you not get it ?

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Hang on, if we've had one signing in the first hundered and odd pages, surely just posting lots more irrelevant rubbish will push the post count up and have us a full squad in double quick time?

Petrov wants to stay...
Martin Petrov is hoping for a big season with Bolton and is looking to earn a new deal at the Reebok Stadium.
The Bulgarian has been Bolton's star man in pre-season with some impressive performances out in the USA and he hopes to continue the good form when the new season gets underway.
Following the departure of Matt Taylor to West Ham, Petrov is Bolton's only out-and-out left winger so it is even more important he hits the ground running.
Petrov signed a two-year deal after arriving from Manchester City and hopes to do enough this season to earn a new one.
"Even though I still live in the same city, I changed clubs and it takes time to get settled. But I enjoy it here because I don't have a problem with anybody," he said.
"I'm in the last year of my current contract and I want to give all my best for the club. I want to enjoy my football, score more goals and help the team win."

Well Martin, I want you to score more goals and for the team to win, so I'll get along with you too

Strong words from the BEN this morning, clearing up one or two grey areas regarding where we're at with deals.
Full piece: http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/wa ... l_s_N_Gog/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;OWEN Coyle has pulled plug on his pursuit of Jeffren Suarez and Daniel Sturridge to sign two new strike stars.
Liverpool’s French front man David N’Gog is now hot favourite to arrive at the Reebok and could become the fourth signing to be completed this week.
Burnley pair Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears are both expected to seal a £2.75million deal in the next 48 hours, with midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker also in advanced talks (edit: he's considering a 3 year deal, it says later in the article).
Sturridge will almost certainly not be returning to the club with Chelsea expected to announce in the next few days that the England Under-21 international has joined Tottenham in a £27m package for Luka Modric.
And Coyle admits his chances of signing Jeffren are also slim, as the player has yet to make contact with the club since Wanderers' £5m bid was accepted two weeks ago.

Does anyone else fear for us next season? Having a smaller squad and not having anyone that can replace the goals that Elmander scored? As i don't think Ngog is going to do it! Really don't rate him. As for MearsCAPSLOCK wrote:From Jeffren and Sturridge to Ngog, Mears and Eagles...fcuk me

Might as well pack up now then. FFS
What option does Coyle have if player's representatives won't even call him? Sturridge was always a non-starter for me and Suarez an unknown for the premiership.
N'gog, Mears and Eagles (plus Reo-Coker) for around £6million represents good business for me and makes us stronger in depth.
We still need one more striker IMO and I reckon that will be a loan deal from somewhere. No need to panic.
