Barton has officially stated he's willing to talk to ANY club, no matter what league they are in.
Good, that should give him plenty to go at, that isn't us.

Great footballer but complete tw@t. Not just all the altercations he has on the pitch, but a complete disruption in the dressing room. He hasn't got rid of that ability to call the manager shit, tweet away about what's happening inside the Club or get suspended for something stupid on or off the pitch.

I don't think what he'd bring on the pitch would be greater than the problems he'd cause off it, by being here.

With him in the team, being a class and a half above anything we have, Newcastle managed to finish no points in front of us in the league last season (but 3 goals better off on GD). I'll take a chance on not gambling on that level of improvement thanks.
Newcastle were 7th at the point they sold their best striker and replaced him with Shefki Kuqi.

Though, if we're following through with this (bollocks) reasoning, what level of improvement are we getting from an 8th placed Championship club?
What's bollocks about not knowing if Pratley will improve our side to the same extent as Barton?

Point is, you have no more clue than anyone else how Barton might fit into the squad. History would tend to suggest that Pratley will fit in better.

Barton may add footballing ability and wreck any squad "harmony" we have. Do you not think that's at all a possibility?

Lots of people are talking like he's fecking Messi. Reality is this time last season, he was playing for a newly promoted Championship side too.
Maybe he would wreck the "squad harmony", maybe our "squad harmony" is just what he needs. I have no idea. You're certainly entitled to the opinion that's he's a disruptive nice person, there's a lot of evidence in favour of that.

What's bollocks is using the performance of a whole team as a basis for judging a players ability, or what he would bring to our side. You don't need to be Lionel Messi to be a more proven right sided option than Chris Eagles.

The argument has been used plenty, that Barton would improve us "immensely", "immeasurably", "He's twice the player X is", "4 times the player Y is".

All this may be true, but for all that, he didn't propel Newcastle into the Champions League, so his impact on team performance is probably a finer distinction, than people are making out. On that basis, I think he's more trouble than he's worth.

He'd have to improve our team immeasurably, immensely etc. to make him worth the risk. Since we appear to have established that he's probably not going to do that, then I'm out. I'd be surprised if Coyle fancied the idea either TBH.

According to reports Manchester City are ready to move in for Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

The Daily Star Sunday says the Finnish keeper, who is in the final year of his deal at the Reebok, is unhappy there has been no progress in negotiations.

City boss Roberto Mancini, who sold Shay Given to Aston Villa for £3.5million, has been linked with Stoke keeper Thomas Sorensen.

But they could go for 36-year-old Jaaskelainen as back-up for England No.1 Joe Hart.

Don't see it happening myself but if it did i'd have no problems.
Top class keeper but we've had his best years, will always be a hero at this club and although i'd love to see him retire with us (i still think he has a year or two left in him as number 1) you couldn't deny the man a big payday at Man City and maybe the opportunity to win a trophy. Still think he'll sign a new day but either way I won't be losing any sleep over it.

Buy two hats. Put the names of every current professional footballer in England in one. Put the names of the 92 English league clubs in the other. Draw one from each hat.

Your rumour now has more credibility than anything posted on Click Manchester/Lancashire.

Maybe he's fed up of playing first team football?

I will take my chance and let him go... provided we don't let cahill go as well. That would leave us in a tricky situation at the back.

Bolton line up Simon Vukcevic swoop
Published: Today

BOLTON are hoping to sign Montenegro striker Simon Vukcevic from Sporting Lisbon.
Owen Coyle wanted the 25-year-old on loan, but Sporting would prefer a £2million permanent deal.

Vukcevic's agent has said a number of English clubs are interested, but Bolton looks to be the best for the player
He's only 25?? I think we were first linked with him in 1972..

I think the papers just do it to wind up Bolton fans.

Fulham are considering whether to raise their offer for Cameron Jerome, after seeing a £2m bid for the striker turned down by Birmingham City.
Overvaluing him by about, oh, £2m
