Diving Arsenal Players - The Least Shocking Admission Ever

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Seanworth, Wenger may have lost the plot before the Bolton game at this rate ;)
I think he simply means that Arsenal seem to have a very high rate of injuries, and not just this season. What does Wenger do in his training that results in most of his players ending up injury prone. Personally I always thought that Wenger used to rush players back, especially players like Fabs, which often results in them getting another injury. I wonder if this is the case with Wilshere. Did Wenger allow him to start training before he was fully fit. To me the teams that always seem to have the most injuries are Spurs and Arsenal. Could be wrong. Big Sam due to his training techniques always seem to have relatively few injuries, and often with older players.
We do seem to have a high rate of injuries and i'm not sure how to say this without sounding a smug, condescending gooner (sorry, its not meant to be!) but i have always largely put it down to the type/style of football we play. We have some very fast players, we play quick one touch stuff and occasionally our opponents seem one step behind (Man Utd excluded obviously ;) ) so often go in late and injure with wild tackles. Its just a theory, maybe its not all the story, perhaps Wenger does rush players back too quick, but we have one of the best back room staff in the game so i really don't think it can be that :conf:
Except you are leading the league in red cards this season, and I think you led the league last season as well. Or do you mean that your players are injuring themselves when going in late with wild tackles. Maybe check to see how injury prone Barcelona are. I have no idea, but I suspect it has more to do with players being brought back from injury too soon, or playing when not fully fit than it has with the rest of the league being bullies. Football is hardly the most dangerous game on the planet yet your team gets more injuries than a rugby team.
I don't think i said the rest of the league were 'bullies', and i am fully aware we are currently leading the red card table, though not sure what that has to do with our injuries. :conf:
Apologies I thought you had said that your injuries were possibly caused by other teams players tackling Arsenal players late and injuring them with wild tackles (the type of tackles that result in red cards). I simply pointed out that when it comes to red cards the past couple seasons Arsenal are king.

I personally feel that your backroom staff/Wenger allows players to return too early, especially key players leaving them vulnerable to injury.

I did say that but i didn't use the word 'bullies', i didn't say it was deliberate intent/malicious, just perhaps somewhat inevitable given the type of football we play. (and clearly we are crap at tackling too...)

I'm sorry thats bollox.

City are now playing better football than you. Yernited win more. Swansea played some really nice high tempo stuff last season.

I'm not having this self flagellating "we bring it on ourselves because of our style" nonsense. Barcelona play infinitely better football than you do. Why haven't they got a crippling injury list?

As i said, its just a theory and not all the story, but i do think it plays a part, am sure there are other factors that affect our injury list too.

sorry... that's bollox!

how many of your injuries are down to opposition tackles? very few... arsenal players have broken more bolton bones than the other way around....

you have a HUGE number of muscle injuries in training.

Alright Bish, i don't have the stats and given i'm hugely outnumbered on this one i shall give in, my theory is all wrong, perhaps its down to training as seanworth and you think.

To give you an idea of injuries, according to Physioroom.com since Jan 1st.

Arsenal : 11 hamstring injuries
Bolton : 0 hamstring injuries

Arsenal : 3 groin
Bolton : 2 groin

Arsenal: 8 muscle strains (various)
Bolton : 2 muscle strains (various)

Arsenal: 0 bone breaks
Bolton : 3 bone breaks

In that period both Fabs and RVP were injured 4 times each, while for Bolton Steinsson was injured twice. Mind you our injuries have been very serious (knee for Holden, Achilles for Ricketts, broken legs for Mears and Lee.

Doesn't prove anything, but think you will find that Hamstrings more often occur from poor warm up/cool down stretching and playing when not fully fit.

New Fabregas developments
Barca's J-M Bartomeu re Cesc: "It was a very good deal for us. His real price was what Arsenal initially asked - at least €60m"

I've read that Arsenal do double sessions at the same intensity each training day. Most clubs do do double sessions, one of a decent intensity and 1 of a lesser intensity to work on set-plays, phases of play etc.

I can pretty much guarantee that's where your injuries are coming from.

What's the point in having players that are extremely fit from a cardio point of view, when they can't get on the pitch due to the injuries sustained in training??!!

Might as well just repost this for the rest of the thread.

Perhaps Arsene could do with a few copies of The Big Issue then?

Wilshere out for 2-3months too. Word is Theo Walcott's done his hamstring too.

Time to cryogenically freeze Van Persie in-between matches, I reckon.

Capello said he did that in the switzerland game - and was surprised that Arsenal didn't send him for proper treatment immediately - rather, let him toddle off on a months holiday... and then come back and aggravate it...

It's none of Capello's business, how Arse treat their players.

meanwhile - it emerges that Benayoun did not have a medical before signing for arsenal - what with having spent most of last season with a serious achilles injury - that won't be a risk at all....

Kakuta didn't have a medical with us.

Not much time for last minute loans.

Not much risk either!
