Chianti Riserva 1/2 price at Sainsbury's £5.99 a pop.
Well worth it at that price. Wouldn't pay 12 quid for it though.

Had roast eel last Monday. I was dreading it but it was absolutely delicious, served with potatoes in parsley sauce. If you like oily fish then roast eel is something you should try should you get the chance.
Bizarrely filling though. Is that because of the oil content?

Its a river fish, so will be highly gelatinous as well as being oily. Pike is the same.

Tonight was eight of us for Moroccan food. we hosting. Partner doing nearly all the cooking. Me helping wth the prep and the shopping.
Mezze of all sorts for the starter... Including home made falafel, aubergines with chilli, beetroot with yogurt... Good stuff...
Then three tagines - monkfish, chicken, veggie... Just delicious...
Welcome and mezze fizzy wine - Cremant de Jura - brilliant...
Tagines, choice of (red) Douro and Fleurie and/or (white) Gavi (Italy) and a Gewurztraminer from South Africa...
Sevilla Almond cake and cheese for afters... an Aussie moscatel as dessert wine...
Was great...
Got rid of the nasty taste of football...

Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
on account of my missus giving away all of our eggs, I couldn't make home-made syrup sponge today - but fortunately we ad the heinz product (formerly championed by Bruce) in the cupboard. I glanced at the ingredients...
there is a long list of ingredients - and then at the end it says (in brackets) "may contain eggs".
well - does it or doesn't it? and why the sense of doubt???

Fat content probably. Don't use margarine. Thats for old people who can no longer eat to enjoy. Its full of emulsified water and pork gelatine. It will happen to us all one day. But so will comodes, theres no rush.

Aye.
And Unpasteurised cheese is way better for you than they'd ever let you know. Its difficult keeping the pathogens down when dealing with the milk from 4 billion cows from questionable (read profit over quality) sources, so they pretend unpasteurised dairy is bad for you. S'not, its very f*cking good for you.
