I'm sure Tango will snuggle up with you Bruce, if you ask him nicely, given Gary is refusing to oblige!Gary the Enfield wrote:Erm, you're a nic guy Bruce but I think we're a way off hugging yet.Bruce Rioja wrote:Shame we can't all be of perfectly huggable height, innit?Gooner Girl wrote: You're not invited lanky! Great effort GtE. Can you see where you could nick 7 seconds from todays run? A faster start? Stronger finish?Gary the Enfield wrote:Ran our club 5k 'Handicap' race yesterday in 21:37

Sitting here wet through, whilst my bath runs, giggling out loud at Hobohs post...
Just come in from running 10km in the rain (Harry, i reckon i've burnt enough calories to eat that cookie and packet of Quavers despite still carrying some excess baggage from the twins!!

Anyway, about 7km in, the left side of my left knee started hurting, not bad enough to stop, but bad enough to slow me down and be aware of it every step i took. It stopped hurting once i got home and stopped running and i didn't really feel it when i went straight back out walking the dog as my cool down, and its fine now. Its not a pulled muscle so i'm a bit bemused as to what it could be/was...

GG it sounds like your IT band. Google it and do some searches for stretching before and after.

Re: The athletics/running thread
I'm doing some endurance sprinting which should help. I'm sure I can improve 7 seconds but as you know it has to be the right conditions. I'll get there though.Harry Genshaw wrote:Great effort GtE. Did you google Illiotibial Band Syndrome? If your symptoms compare (and your initial description seems to fit) then there are some useful exercises you can do.

Says if you've upped your running recently it could be a cause... I have, and i have started playing football again.
Treatment involves rest from running

Have you ever suffered it yourself GtE?

I put a bag of frozen peas on my thigh once when I'd pulled the muscle. Didn't know that I was meant to wrap the bag of peas in a towel first

May the bridges I burn light your way
