Must have been a different Owen Coyle that kept us in the top half of the league for most of last season and took us to an F.A. Cup semi-final then.
That Owen Coyle, came in raised the atomosphere, put a smile on peoples faces and got decent players playing.

Sadly the charactersitics required then seem different to now.

We're now seeing the Owen Coyle that has built a team and needs to figure out how to organise it into some sort of a cohesive shape. How to recover from a dismal spell and how to fix some very serious issues that have presented themselves.

Not going to happen, not from Coyley any way. His career so far is based entirely on force of personality. Which is a good characteristic, but somebody needs to have a word about the other things.
Which is my worry, because our backroom staffs coaching careers are all based around Coyles. Looking from the outside doesn't seem like any are in a position to impose the things we need!

I haven't commented thus far on the performances over the last several games, in part because I have not wanted to consider what the underlying problems are. However, I believe things are coming to the point of no return; we shall start to be cut adrift from the majority of the teams in the PL and unable to get out of the predicament.

One of my friends, a dirty Wolves supporter, pointed out Coyles body language to me in the most recent couple of games he caught on Sky. Having not really considered this before it is fairly shocking to conclude that he looks a beaten man. I would suggest that the team may well be picking up on this. So much for motivational ability.

He and his management/coaching team have completely lost their self-belief in all probability. They are extremely unlikely to be be able to radically change the team performance and appear to be observers to this ongoing car crash.

They have to go to save the club.

One solution might be to keep OC at the helm but get in a new backroom team, or at least some different members. However, due to loyalty this isn't an option so I think you may be right. Let's hope we start to regain confidence or we make a change to turn things around.

I think it's been said before but OC would be a perfect coach with a director of football sat upstairs for guidance.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I don't believe that there is any evidence to support this.
Depression is just a state of mind, supporting Bolton is also a state of mind hence supporting Bolton must be depressing QED

I've noticed in the last few games that Coyle has been sat on the bench, in shorts, leaning forward with his hands clasped, occasionally jumping up to shout instructions and encouragement to his players.

Whereas 18 months ago, he would be sat on the bench, in shorts, leaning forward with his hands clasped, occasionally jumping up to shout instructions and encouragement to his players.

I'm a student of body language and a student of the team. There are a few problems. The way Coyle sits on the bench is fairly low down the list.

I must say that the shorts and socks up to the knees look ought to earn him the nickname 'special one'

We were 'on the down' when he took over weren't we? He managed to keep us up didn't he?

Are you? Then I suppose you will have concluded that both his perpetual look of concern and head in hands for good parts of a game show a manager right on top of things. I have seen other managers pitchside do plenty of strange things including showing anger, kicking bottles, attempting to throttle the 4th official (or whatever they call themselves now) but OC appears to be a short way from rocking backwards and forwards on the bench with his thumb in his mouth.

The exact same argument would have applied to Megson!

Defense?
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
