Seconded. Strictly then MOTD or Strictly and DVD. All depends on the above.

You're fortunate, will have to suffer X Factor first before DVD /MOTD.

Just watched Juno.

I liked, not sure why it caused all the fuss it did, either in terms of great reviews, or controversial subject matter, but I thought it was good. Not great, but good fun.

However, last night, I finally finished the Sopranos. As in finished. At first I absolutely HATED the ending. But I've watched the last two episodes again (Sopranos series ends are weird, everything happens in the penultimate one) and it kinda clicked, and I think it's awesome. An amazing show full stop, ended very well. I need something new. I'm tempted by 'Breaking Bad', 'Mad Men' (which I have watched a few of before, and liked, but it's soooo slow) or potentially something else. Any suggestions. I've done The Wire and the Sopranos (for the record, and I know it is a cliché, but they really are the best two I've ever seen, and I can't pick a winner) what else is there?

Oh, FYI Pru, and I forgot this a few days ago, if you're doing the whole French Cinema thing, you'd better wath Ne Le Dis a Personne. Otheriwse, you'll have missed one of Michael Caine's top ten films of all time.

Don't just take his word for it, it is brilliant in a way that Hollywood has forgotten with 3D and other nonsense.

Nope. When I was younger I always thought it was Cold Feet. I was an idiot child :D.

Worth watching? You love your TV, anything, series-wise even close to Sopranos or The Wire?

Post-that conversation I stuck L'Homme du Train on my LF list- I'd forgotten all about it but I think it was one of the things that made me interested in carrying on French, we were about 15, and watched it, with subtitles obviously, but being able to follow even odd parts was amazing, being able to actually understand this other language properly, that and I remember really liking the film.

I'm also sat here with Micmacs on my side, I added it to my list post-La Haine (which I liked, but didn't love) and they sent it straight away! Ne Le Dis a Personne is going on too.

Watched Black Mirror.

Bizarre story about the Prime Minister doing things to a pig (porcine) live on TV.

Whilst we're at it then, you must (absolutely must ) watch Le Bonheur est dans le pre, and if you're up to it (because its good) Jean de Florette. But understand, you have to watch that simply to get at the sequel, Manon des Source. Which is about 17.6 times better than its predecessor. I think its fairly unique that a sequel can so far outshine its prequel (is that right?).

Watched Black Mirror last night Willy. Thought it was a waste of a really good idea.

Aye - it wasn't a cheap production either. Disappointing.

It could have been really good though, couldn't it? Desperately close to "quite good, worth watching". And failed by trying to be too smart.

i thought it was brilliant this week, as always.

also finally watched Tyrannosaur tonight. strewth, if its laughs your after - avoid! incredible film, but very very bleak.

as for boxsets, i cant recommend Mad Men enough, it definitely stops being slow, well it did for me. season 2 onwards flew by. i am currently at the end of S2 of Breaking Bad which i am also enjoying immensely. other favourites... check out Entourage for summat a bit different and more light hearted, or Deadwood is good too. next up for me after Breaking Bad is The Sheild... oh and Homicide life on the street, after reccys from this parish. also, if you havent seen it but liked the Wire, you need to catch up with The Corner!

any others? Lost i got bored with after a season and a half, 24 didnt like, Prison Break / West Wing not seen.

^ NYPD Blue was one of my favourite box sets but they only ever released the first six series out of twelve. I managed to get series 12 off another fan who had recorded them all.

You're right about 24. Ran out of steam about 5th day for me. The Shield was excellent for a couple of series too.

I've got a full set of West Wing but have only ever watched as far as half way through series two. Columbo, Whatever Happened to The Likely Lads, The Sweeney all weigh down my book shelves.

Going to stop there as I'm beginning to sound like someone else who frequents these here parts :)

Nothing I know close to either of them.

My middle son thinks Six Feet Under better than both. I think he's wrong. Creator of it is Alan Ball, the writer of American Beauty. And in one way the 60 plus hours of SFU is a (lengthy) sequel - particularly the idea of the dead as always with us/the dead as wry narrators/advisors. Without ever being 'supernatural'. Premise is a family undertakers - all American society there - because all of us die... Get first eps from LF and you'll know if you want to continue. Liberal in tone, wry, sometimes moving, often funny. Deff worth a try.
