Watch it Mr Willy or I'll be after you! Cheeky sod!Wandering Willy wrote:TANGODANCER wrote:A couple of serious runners, man and wife, live close to me. Often see them out, singly or together, with a Siberian Husky running along with them. The girl's car has the number plate W 1 2 RUN ( assuming this means "We want to run). Our local postman also must be a fit guy, he runs his round pulling a trolley along behind him. Good on them all.

I guess. Though today also included a 5-4 defeat at 11 a side, knocking my team out of the cup
was cramping like a motherfucker by the end, unsurprisingly.

Re: The athletics/running thread
did my second (of three) 28min runs today - and upped my average pace from an already mind-blowing 9min53sec mile to a positively earth-shattering 9min43sec mile!
consequently I ran further - upping it from 2.83miles to 2.88miles (which was the whole length of the fishing lake!)

Now, I know your boss can walk on water; didn't realise it extended to staff.

Bish, back in the early summer when i started training again about 7 months after having the twins i was only running for 2 miles and averaging high 9 minute miling (albeit around quite a hilly course) Fast forward to now, about 6 months on and i generally run between 3 and 7 miles per session at about (very roughly) 8.45 pace - not speedy considering before twins i used to be running about a minute a mile faster then that - high 7's, but considering i only train 1-3 times a week and i'm not doing proper sessions, no fartlek work or anything like that, just running, it goes to show that you will improve and quite quickly if you keep at it so don't you (or Bruce) be discouraged. Sounds like you're making great progress.

I suppose any distance could be described as "cheeky" when you're running in padded cycling shorts.thebish wrote:

Re: The athletics/running thread
Upped my game last night. I was invited to run with the sub 20's group.
A flattish course over 7.2 miles at 7:30 pace. This is a training run.
I averaged 7:27. Didn't think I was going to make it but with a little encouragement from the leader I found the reserve I needed for the (slightly) hilly back leg.
10k time was 46:10
Go me.
