Who can save us ??

Re: Who can save us ??
It really is 'anyone' for me. I'm 100% convinced we're going down with Coyle in charge, so absolutely anyone you can think of would be preferable for me.
Curbishley, Bruce, Jones, McLaren and Souness would probably be my first five on the list. In that order. I don't think Hughes is an option.

But Preston job, perfect for Owen......they can pay us a small amount say 50K and we'll save paying Coyle and his backroom off.....
Come on PG get creative....

Re: Who can save us ??
Curious case, is Browny's
Wonder if OC will help him keep involved by inviting him to Euxton for the odd session, as these old-boys tend to (see also Megson and Reid hanging around Stoke)
Also wonder if his top-flight PPG is higher than OC's

Is he that fat American bloke?

ahh - interesting - I have only ever heard him on R5 and always thought him to be a tosser - but had heard others saying he was a thoughtful and knowledgeable pundit - maybe this explains the discrepancy..Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Odd one, Gabriele - thoughtful in print, gobshite in audioCAPSLOCK wrote:Even Marcotti is wise to Coyle now

I get the impression that he's one of those types who could reel off player name after player name to seem knowledgable, but doesn't actually know that much about the game itself

I'd say he's one of the better pundits. Just listened to Talksport website and what he said made sense to me, you can disagree with his conclusion but he wasn't talking crazy or owt. That was actually a good listen.
Even if you think OC deserves time you have to admit that 12 out of 15 is very bad, and another manager might have done better, albeit a manager who might already have a job or might not want to come to us.

Re: Who can save us ??
In the spirit of debate...
We're no longer number one in the injury table. Apart from the RB position our big injuries have mainly been squad players. NRC missed one game. Can't remember if Sean Davis is any good. Only two injuries that have affected us: LCY and Holden. So basically, we're bottom with 12 defeats out of 15 due to two players being injured!?
People keep talking about Elmander and Sturridge as if they're among our injured players, they left and have been replaced. Replaced by players like Ngog, Tuncay and Kakuta. These players aren't injured.
The other thing Marcotti was saying is that it's not like OC started over the summer so needs time to convey his ideas to the squad. It was going well before. Stopped working and it's not been working for a while, partly with Sturridge in the team.
...I'm not in the "OC out" camp especially, but I enjoy debate.

Re: Who can save us ??
Marcotti has written an interesting Capello biography and co-written an excellent book with Gianluca Vialli - not the standard ex-player biog but a fascinating dissection of the differences between English and Italian football. He's also crafted a number of well-written columns for broadsheets. I have no idea what he's like on Taxi Drivers Shouting AM, because I don't listen to it, but perhaps he tailors his output for his media and audience: some will enjoy thoughtful prose, some will enjoy spouting gobshittery.
Re: Who can save us ??
If he's that fat American bloke he was on Champions League show the other day and sounded like an utterly clueless twunt. What is he saying, we're not very good? If so that's insightful genius. Only seen him a couple of times though, so I wouldn't want to pass judgement

Will second that this book is excellent.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Marcotti has written an interesting Capello biography and co-written an excellent book with Gianluca Vialli - not the standard ex-player biog but a fascinating dissection of the differences between English and Italian football
In regards to replacing Coyle, Hughes would be my preference but I think it is very unlikely that he would come.
I'd probably try and get Curbishley. Think we'd end up with Bruce though. I'm not his biggest fan although he did do well with Wigan bringing in the likes of Valencia and Palacios in for little money.

Re: Who can save us ??
Marcotti says not very much in a faux-thoughtful, foreign sort of way. I think he's trying to come across as profound. He just seems to me to be some sort of naked bloke being feted for his boss Parka.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

AW - its 17 out of 20 not 12 out of 15
I'm not having a few pre season wins against some cloggers like Newport County being added in.
To be on that run - and still play Boyota, Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Mavies, Pratley, Eagles, Tuncay, Davies, Klasnic as your first team. It is indefensible.
