He's ineffective now, we know this. Thus judging Ream on how he handles Davies does not show us anything because everyone copes with Davies now.

Oh right - so because Davies is past it/can't get in the side he's lost his physicality has he? Durrrrr!Whookam wrote:Kevin Davies? The Kevin Davies that can't get into the team anymore? Same things were said about Holden by the American press, lightweight etc.....jaffka wrote:Thats it lets just write him off before even seeing him.

It's ludicrous to make a judgement till we've seen him play, we haven't even signed him yet.
Coyle needs to get this window right because he bought poorly in the summer!

So durrrr back.
Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
Well seeing as you are already writing him off as being sh*te, do you fancy letting us all know what tonights 6 balls are going to be?
Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
The thing about Holden is that he didn't cost several million pounds.BWFC_Insane wrote:Same things were said about Holden by the American press, lightweight etc.....jaffka wrote:Thats it lets just write him off before even seeing him.

I said I reserve judgement until I've seen him but that others had been doubting his ability to handle the physical side of the English game. I've stated that how he deals with Davies in training is no way to judge him because Davies has been ineffective. Pretty much every defender copes with Davies now.

Physicality doesn't just mean being big and strong it means to be able to use that to your advantage. Davies is unable to do that anymore, as we have seen increasingly over the last year. So if Davies is unable to used his size to his advantage in Premier League games then it stands to reason that you can't judge a trialist on how he copes with Davies.
So durrrr back.

Look, a 'past it' Davies still offers more physicality than he's likely to encounter anywhere else.
Tell you what, you tell me who you think offers a greater physical challenge than Davies.
Oh, and

You are actually coming across as writing him off, also evidenced by what you have just put about believing what you have read.Whookam wrote:Reading is fundamental.jaffka wrote:Well seeing as you are already writing him off as being sh*te, do you fancy letting us all know what tonights 6 balls are going to be?

If he signs for us, lets see how he does in white shirt. I am pretty sure that you will agree that is all that matters.

Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
They still would have said the same things about him and he wouldn't have been any worse a player for costing several million.Whookam wrote:The thing about Holden is that he didn't cost several million pounds.BWFC_Insane wrote:Same things were said about Holden by the American press, lightweight etc.....jaffka wrote:Thats it lets just write him off before even seeing him.

Best to just wait and see, I don't trust Americans to judge football related things anyhow...

Yakubu, Grant Holt, Wayne Rooney, Andy Carroll, Drogba.... The list goes on.Bruce Rioja wrote:

So I'll say again. Davies may be physically imposing but he's ineffective with it meaning he's now easy to defend against. Hence if we're using Davies as some kind of standard it's a pretty low one, relatively speaking.
Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
I do, and I don't mean to write him off, I just don't buy the 'Davies Test'.jaffka wrote:You are actually coming across as writing him off, also evidenced by what you have just put about believing what you have read.Whookam wrote:Reading is fundamental.jaffka wrote:Well seeing as you are already writing him off as being sh*te, do you fancy letting us all know what tonights 6 balls are going to be?

Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
If a lad in his twenties trains with an older much more experienced bloke it doesn't necessarily figure he'll do things at the same pace. Don't let your Davies bias blind you to the fact he's one of the most uninjured, physical blokes in the league and has been for years. Who better to train with?Whookam wrote: Kevin Davies? Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: Will Ream be a Dream?
There's training then there's playing. Call me skeptical but when a defender apparently has trouble with the physical side of MLS it's going to take more than two weeks of shadowing Kevin Davies to change that.TANGODANCER wrote:If a lad in his twenties trains with an older much more experienced bloke it doesn't necessarily figure he'll do things at the same pace. Time will tell though.
