Hasn't that actually gone for 6 in that it's over the boundary rope? Secondly, the bloke that finally catches it - shouldn't he have had to have caught it one handed, in that when we were kids, if it came back off of the knobbly tree in Nelly Hardcastle's garden you could only catch it one handed? And being as he didn't, shouldn't the batter have had a peg leg? The rules is the rules! :conf:

I may be wrong - but I think that the rules are that it is only a six when the ball hits the ground over the boundary rope - OR - the ball is touching a fielder, part of whose body is over the boundary rope...

in other words, the boundary rope only applies to the ground - not airspace!

it's not like in football where an outswinging corner can be deemed out of play....

the one-handed rule, though - you're 100% right! 8)

For Bruce, s'gotta have touched outside boundary, and that includes indirectly through catcher who is touching outside boundary, which he brilliantly wasn't. More importantly, how does the rule of one hand one bounce when playing in tiiiiiiiiiiiiny spaces come into effect? Also, relevantly, legal catch or not, is he not six and out?

Kinell, that got a good laugh out of me. My first cricket bat my dad made out of a plank and it was so wide that getting a peg-leg was a nightmare.

First rule of cricket, never call the bat narrow, what the bat is, is very very wide, and very very short.

We had many arguments about cricket balls. Corkies ( two versions, mainly the one with no cover because we weren't posh; school games of course had leather), could only be used on Moss Bank because our home pitch was the cinders outside Holy Harbour. Tennis balls were the accepted norm because when a "bouncer" was bowled with those hard rubber things it could finish up on Esckrick Street. That's when the rule of "four max" came in after somebody once ran twenty seven byes before the ball came back.
