Bish, when you're running fast enough to catch me i'll let you put your hand in my back pocket then. Motivation enough for you?!

Apparantly there are no programmes on the radio just for children now?
no - they died out years ago - and then made a come back with Big Toe radio that was (I think) on r4 on Sunday afternoons and then moved to Radio 7.. but now it seems to have been dumped.
I think there also used to be CBeebies for pre-schoolers on the radio - but that's been shifted to downloads now...

Not angry, more sad. They've finally closed that acadamy of terpsichery,The Astoria Palais de Dance (now known as Ritzy after numerous other names) down. Scene of many happy times in days gone by.

Bolton is falling apart bit by bit. A slow death of a thousand cuts. This one saddens me too. Spent many a happy Saturday evening in there and if I close my eyes I can still see the interior as it was in the late 1960's.TANGODANCER wrote:Not angry, more sad. Aye,me too. I suppose for some it's a bit like closing down places like the Hacienda etc in Manchester etc. At one time Mecca had a whole string of ballrooms around the area, Bury Palais, Ritz and Plaza in Manchester, Carlton at Rochdale, Rawtenstall Astoria and others. Had many good times in them all. Even the Monaco in Farnworth, the Gaiety in Westhoughton, Crompton Way Casino etc have all bit the dust. Sign of the times I suppose.clapton is god wrote:Bolton is falling apart bit by bit. A slow death of a thousand cuts. This one saddens me too. I rarely get back aty the moment, and when I it's even rarer I venture into the town centre. Did just after Christmas (exactly a year after my last visit) and the place has just fallen apart... bands of feral kids running around the streets climbing up Fred's statue and the like...clapton is god wrote:Bolton is falling apart bit by bit. Websites that as soon as you open them burst out with some random audio feed that you haven't clicked on. BEN site's started doing it and now I see, doubtlessly down to the unique way by which it's funded, the BBC Sports site does it to.
If I wanted to listen to Martin Jol being interviewed, which I don't, then I'm perfectly capable of clicking on it for myself.
This intrusion also causes embarrassment when you're in the office and just want to find something out!

The auto-play on Flash videos has recently started to piss me off too. If you're using the Firefox browser then you can install Flashblock. Not sure whether it's available to other browsers.
Talking of irritating websites, the new BBC Sport layout is friggin awful.

Flashblock

Looks like you can get it for Chrome too, but possibly not Internet Explorer.

That's a shame as I will avoid Chrome until I have no option and then I may stop using t'internet altogether.Little Green Man wrote:Flashblock

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I can do without popup ads, but use flash player for other purposes. Does flashblock allow this or does it block everything?Little Green Man wrote:The auto-play on Flash videos has recently started to piss me off too. I run Chrome so I'll fettle it later.
Go to wrench (top right) > options > under the hood > content settings (in "privacy" at top of page)
Then click "block all" in plugins.
You can manage exceptions in the tab shown eg for youtube etc. and allow them to work if you wish.
This disables all plugins but if you want to run one on a web page just right click on the grey icon and select "run".
I am not sure if this is the best way but it works for me and you don't have to download anything to use it.

It replaces the Flash video window with a Flash icon. When you move your cursor over the window it changes this to a play button. You then only have to click this to enable the Flash content.Montreal Wanderer wrote:I can do without popup ads, but use flash player for other purposes. I was driving along behind Victoria in Manchester yesterday and there staring down at me was a HUGE David Beckham wearing nothing but a pair of white Y-fronts. Bloody hell, man! Have you not got enough money already? Where's your dignity!

Annoyed with the Channel 4 announcer thinking he's being witty calling The Simpsons something else. Such as tonight...The Scooby Snacks and The Donaldsons.
Yes, very petty anger.
