Have had a few days break due to illness. Hope to be back at it on Monday.

Don't find out until this avvy, Willy, but Our Kid timed it at 30 mins - which was my aim really. That hill up from under Darcy Lever viaduct's a feck* isn't it?!?!

Results are on interweb Bruce. How did you find it? You're right re the hill but at least unlike the park run we only had to go up it once!! I set off pretty hard and was soon blowing around the 2/3K mark but finished up with a PB of 20.44 so well chuffed.

If the Gooners drop any more points you'll have to be getting your arse out of gear wont you?

Was tough because I've only trained on flat up to now, but am chuffed with myself for getting through it.

Could see the gazelles finishing as I was between 2 and 3K markers

Anyway - the scores on the doors. Out of a field of 245 I dragged my sorry arse over the line in 216th position with a time of 30:33 (6:07KM/9:50Mi)

It's a start ;)

Great effort Bruce. Now you've got the bug, you've got a time to beat - which I'm sure you will do pretty soon given your progress so far. Dont know if you know or not, that although the park run does the hill twice you don't do it right from the very bottom like we did today. Feet up & a cold one tonight? :pissed:

Sorry mate, perfectly rude of me - many congrats on posting a PB. Think I'll have been on Blenheim Road when you were finishing :D

Well now I've got this far I don't want to let it go to waste so will do my first parkrun on saturday. I was under the impression that they missed out the hill altogether :( Our Kid was a trooper on the hill, he got me to concentrate on running the next five yards rather than focussing on the top of it - and it worked.

Feet up and a cold one, you say? Be rude not to ;) :pissed:

Cheers fella :D I notice the winner was averaging 5.06 minute miles

I'm sure Park run will be great for your progress even with that blasted hill, & good for motivation in keeping going. When I started running 3 years ago it was because one drunken night I'd foolishly agreed to do a half marathon for charity. Once the weight started to come off and my fitness improved it would have been, like you say, a shame to let all the hard work go to waste. Keep it up & get yourself into more races :oyea:

Congratulations guys :) cracking stuff all around.

Personally been a weekend to forget for, both personally and in running terms. Back on the wagon tomorrow though.

Thanks, Bish. If it wasn't for you I'd never have even started, so seriously, mate - thanks. ;)

Our Kid revealed after the event that his PB for the distance, albeit back in the day, is 16:20

Ultimately he was my personal 'Laura' for the day. Massive bro' hugs at the end :D

Yeay - Have found a running partner for the Parkrun on 3rd March. Might do this Saturday's on my own though for the hell of it.
