That Ramos penalty is as bad as I've seen.

Is German football the most entertaining? Whenever I see German teams and matches, they attack at pace, are direct and usually games between them are end to end exciting affairs in my experience?
Also that Schweinsteiger (sp?) is a hell of a player IMO!

Yep.. Bayern's brand of football is the best in Europe that I've seen. It's a possession game, but they always look to go forward with it at pace.
Brilliant to watch and are well worth their place in the final

I was amazed at how both teams passed at pace and their first touch was fantastic. It's like they had epoxy resin smeared along the sides of their boots. As soon as the first period of extra time lapsed I texted my uncle to say Bayern would go through on penalties.
Hopefully it will be a good final. Be nice to see 'Our Gary' pick up a medal.

Yep thats them, what the 2 team league? its getting like the SPL. They have some great players but they are not a great team, i don't understand the logic that Madrid would of a better chance of beating Chelsea in the final than Bayern who totally outplayed themHoboh wrote:You talking about the overrated Madrid that are 5 points clear of the supposed best team in the world and having just beaten them away by any chance?Jokers in White wrote:Why? I think you like many others overrate Madrid, the best team won over the 2 legs. It will be a good final though.ChrisC wrote:I think Chelsea will take the final.. Didn't fancy them against Madrid.

Ive seen alot of german football this season on ESPN and every game is entertaining, and every team looks to be well organised. There's some world class players in that league more than people realise. The two top goal scorers in the bundesliga have 40+ goals Gomez at Bayern and Huntelaar at Schalke.BWFC_Insane wrote:Is German football the most entertaining? Agreed. I think they produce the best 'football product' and their teams are quite underrated.Jokers in White wrote:Ive seen alot of german football this season on ESPN and every game is entertaining, and every team looks to be well organised. People went on about Madrid but Bayern have a midfield with Robben, Scwhweinsteiger and Ribery in it. That's a top lineup by anyone's standards!

3 world class players but they also have the best full back in the world IMO too Philipp Lahm the guy never stops running and has that swagger only world class players have.BWFC_Insane wrote:Agreed. Was the immediate comparison I thought of too. I think Ramos' is even worse!RealLifeHobbit wrote:Jaap Stam, Euro 2000 vs Italy.Prufrock wrote:That Gary Neville thing is amazing. Been watching and laughing all day at that, and this comedy GOLD. Look on Ivanovic's face!

Re: Barca v Chelsea / Madrid v Bayern
anyone else think Chelsea are making a HUGE stupid mistake by kicking up a fuss over making sure John Terry could lift the cup if they won it??
do I not remember ManU looking a bit stupid having made a similar application for Fletcher(?) to be able to collect a medal should they have won it???

Duncan McKenzie, Bolton v Everton Lg Cup Semi Final, 2nd leg 1977. He hit it so far over the bar, at the Embankment end, the guy in the Signal Box had to duck.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

My recollection is that he hit the corner flag but it was a long time ago when Willy was little.

I don't remember the second leg - I didn't go - but I was at the first leg... (one of my first away games)bobo the clown wrote:mmmm .... not in my version, but time plays tricks.Wandering Willy wrote:My recollection is that he hit the corner flag but it was a long time ago when Willy was little.

big Sam was suspended IIRC - and Whatmore scored a thunderous net-busting free-kick to equalise... (funnily enough - I think it was mcKenzie that scored for them that night..)
(didn't Bruce Rioch play for everton back then?)

Re: Barca v Chelsea / Madrid v Bayern
My recollection of this match is arriving late with my Dad, brothers & sisters. Then getting into the Lever End, only to be met by a bloke warning my Dad not to try and get his kids any further, since "they'll get crushed". Consequently, we about turned and exited, having to climb over the turnstiles to get out.thebish wrote:I don't remember the second leg - I didn't go - but I was at the first leg... We spent the next 2 hours sat in my Dad's car, without a radio, waiting for our friends who'd managed to get into the ground, to return, to give them a lift home.
One of the worst memories of my childhood. The most despressing, desolate 2 hours ever.
Hope is what keeps us going.

Russell Coughlin FRT Semi first leg 1986? Hitting the Normid sign, or at least close to it. Surely the worst?bobo the clown wrote:Ah, children, children.RealLifeHobbit wrote:Jaap Stam, Euro 2000 vs Italy.Prufrock wrote:That Gary Neville thing is amazing.
