Mrs Clown expressing her deep insight into the merits & otherwise of starting Kevin Davies.

THEN she takes umbrage at me responding with "what the fck do you know about it ?" :conf:

I've just seen the plans for the layout of our new office which is about to be built, and I'll be positioned right where the MD can see everything that I'm doing. My days of nipping on here during the day are numbered :(

Farce. Seen this morning:

Woman has parked her car right on the corner at Minerva Road juction with a street barely wide enough for two cars. She comes out of the shop across, parcels under each arm and talking on a mobile. She then commences fiddling for her keys, manages to open the driver's door into the road, (completely stopping any cars passing) and loads her parcels into the back. I'm almost level by then and she gets in the car, flicks an indicator and wants to turn into Minerva Road (busy hospital and bus route). Guy stops and waves her out. Does she acknowlege him? No chance, she's busy making a one-handed right-angled turn and still yammering at the mobile. If I'd been a copper a bit of police brutality would have been quite in order.

Does it take you back to schooldays then ? First day, sit in alphabetical order .... all except you young Rioja. I want you HERE, right in front of me ... front row.

Young Rioja was first on the register and had no choice in the matter either way :hang:

And though I couldn't tell you what I had for dinner on Tuesday, I can still rattle off the order of names! :?

Teatime; the M6; Carawankers.

What on God's earth makes anyone want to drive round the country pulling a bloody great shed behind their car, holding up every other decent motorist, only to arrive in some forsaken field in the middle of nowhere? Where's the joy in slopping out your chemical toilet like some newbie in Strangeways?

If I wanted to spend the weekend sleeping on a couch, all I had to do was tell the ex she'd put on a few pounds. It's beyond me.

And.......breathe...........

I guess I can see the appeal....can go away for a spur-of-the-moment weekend away, no hotels to book, mostly "home comforts"......but not for me.......posh camping.

I had thought it was impossible for me to be MORE irritated by Stuart Hall... but I was wrong!!

today he is wheeled out onto R5 for the phone-in - and is spouting forth about the shining beauty of every aspect of the British Empire. "Where would the Caribbean have been if we hadn't given them civilization and cricket." "We gave them lots of lovely buildings" "We gave them plantations"

Maybe they demanded them ?!?!

More seriously, all the revisionism in the World doesn't alter the fact that the slave-trade, the plantations and all that fell from it would have happened anyway. In our case we just got there before & beat to the game the French, Portuguese, Dutch & Spanish.

While none of that makes what happened at the time right it certainly is thin thining to suggest "if only we hadn't done it ... etc.".

Plus, there's not a living Englishman who'd Grandparents would have taken any active participation so constantly beating ourselves up over our history not only ignores the realities of the time, but also is as pointless as complaining about the price of apples in WW1.
