Homeland finale, as brilliant as could be expected whilst knowing a new series is due to be made. Few scenes Ive watched on TV had the adrenaline going quite like watching Brody agonise over detonating that vest - superb stuff.

Only worry is, I hope we're not in for another 10 series' worth of near misses and Carrie's lost memories

Yeah, finding out a second season was in the works kind of spoilt the outcome of that scene, but fantastic stuff non the less. Don't think I can wait for Channel 4 to show it this time round so will be watching once it's released in America.

It kind of reminded me of 24 in the sense that it builds tension up fantastically well. Homeland was great because it managed to keep a slow pace in the early episodes without ever being boring. The sense of you knew that something big was coming but you were happy enough to let it play out.

didnt for me, i assumed Carrie, Saul and co would return in S2 with a brand new target? although i never thought for one minute they would let Brody succeed, i thought he might have blown himself up or summat.

I just think Damien Lewis is too big of a name not to have in the second season, that was why I guess. Nothing to do with the storyline because I did believe he would have gone ahead with it.

Watched the first episode of 'Awake' on Anytime (new Sky atlantic programme).

Was actually quite decent, but not holding much hope for it. Got a feeling it's going to become frustrating.

It does. Huge missed opportunity.

not into this Cage bashing, hes been in some shockers granted, but Leaving Las Vegas, Bad Lieutenant, Matchstick Men and Adaption are some of my favourite films, i like Face Off too, and Kick Ass.

I dunno, he's generally the same in everything. Just his 'nutter shtick'. Face-Off is an enjoyable romp though and about the only decent Hollywood effort Woo's done.

Fairly disturbing film. It's the matter-of-fact approach that had me unsettled.

Recently watched 500 Days of Summer, Avengers and Frost/Nixon, which was the best one.

fairly? that scene at the end when he closes the door on the camera... sends shivers down my spine as i write this! especially if having read up on the nature of their endeavours! brutal.

Perhaps I undersold my point.

It was in no way, shape or form, enjoyable. But I have some grim respect for it as it painted an ugly breeding ground for such atrocities quite believably.

If she hated all the gruesome stuff then that's understandable. If she wasn't swept away by the potent love story, well then I worry for her.

Wife persuaded me to watch Britain's Got Talent-Catchup, on youtube. Had to like the dancing dog and I've seen the boys choir before and think they're great, but I was absolutely blown away by the operatic singer lad and his partner. Amazing. That's talent.

I haven't watched a Bunuel movie for about 20 years... I'm about to place The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie on my LF list...

Bunuel was at University with Lorca and Dali and close friends with both - making what many regard as the first surrealist film with Dali - Un Chien d'Andalou...

Lorca was shot by the Fascists in 1936, Dali ended up supporting Franco and Bunuel spent most of his life in exile in Mexico...

Three undergrad friends... three vastly different fates... Bunuel, always a heavy smoker, died of lung cancer... In his final days in hospital in Mexico city, he would take off his oxygen mask to light and take a few drags of the smoke that was about to kill him... there's a bit of me that almost admires that...
