The momentum of the treadmill means less effort on your part. Thats how it seems to me anyway, certainly, I get out of breath a lot quicker on the roads.

Got a 5 mile club road race tonight in Rivington which includes 2 ascents of Nickleton Brow - only hope I've done enough hill work of late

How'd ya do?

Not too bad. 39 minutes on mixed terrain over 5.3 miles. There were some pretty good runners there last night & although I beat a few folks I have been trailing for a while, I was still half way down the field. Lots of hard work this summer I think :D

22.04 in this mornings park run which was a little disappointing although I was still a bit sore from Wednesdays race and a couple of gym sessions.

A good reminder though about never judging a book by its cover. A younger bloke overtook me at the 1k mark, stocky chap with headphones on and mentally I dismissed him thinking he'd set off too fast and I'd overtake him near the end. Didn't get close to him

Part two today was the Bedford Sprint Tri

I managed 1:28:40 overall which was 8 minutes faster than the same course last year.

Blah.

i've done my neck in or something, maybe slept on it funny. Anyway playing football today and i can barely rotate it, every header I went for was agony. Silly verbal.

Also it feels like I've done my IT band in. Blah.

Football tournament in amsterdam next weekend. Last big blowout before I get back on the wagon. Wanna get sub 21 for 5k before the year's out.

Nice one G - 8 minutes is smashing it. What were the respective distances?

10:40 on the 400m swim (1 minute faster) 54 mins on the 24k bike (6 minutes faster) and 21:29 on the 5k run ( 40 seconds faster) with minor improvements on the transition stages.

I can still improve my swim and bike so we'll see in October. :0)

Well thanks, but not quite.

My age group (45 -49) is the biggest growing demographic for this sport. The winner of my age group finished in 1:11:05 11th in gender and 11th overall.

I finished in 1:28:40, 14th in age group, 94th in gender and 103rd overall. The field was 193. So not so much an Avenger, more a disgruntled of Milton Keynes.

Don't forget to take your folding steps with you so the ticket office doesn't just see the top of your head. :P

Lovely 4 mile recovery run round Trent Park tonight. Having a laid back week ahead of my club's 5 k handicap on Saturday

Excellent 5k time GtE, particularly so given what you'd already done

Fell race over Parbold way tomorrow night - can't wait!

Quick question, guys. My faithful Asics are evidently not as soft underfoot as they once were.

Am I ok to chuck insoles in them and carry on?
