I went. It was handled well. Owen Coyle and Phil Gartside were present. It was moving. Remembered three people I loved. And who loved the Whites. Shed some tears.William the White wrote:Tonight I'm going to the reebok where it's the annual memorial service for those Wanderers fans who are commemorated at the stadium. Ive got three people I really loved commemorated there, including my dad.
The club do this well.
It's the only religious service I purposefully go to.
Sooner or later the service will have to get more ecumenical. For now it's all christian - and undoubtedly that suited the people attending.
Re: Where are you going tonight?
Owen Coyle wouldn't be missed if I never heard his name ever again, but full marks for this stuff
He's a decent fella
A misguided clown, but a decent chap

I posted elsewhere that, as an homage to the film, we all wore glasses, white shirts and black ties to the cinema. GG picked up that I never mentioned trousers and assumed (being the smutty minded minx that she is) that we weren't wearing any!Bruce Rioja wrote:I don't get that!

I'm not a big musicals fan - but I have to say this was ace!! Sondheim is a musical genius!
and - Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton were simply a class act....

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Visited Amsterdam over the weekend for a football tournament. It was here if anyone's interested: http://www.wvhedw.nl/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; dunno if it's an open invite tourney but I'd highly recommend it. Such a good laugh and the good side of competitive and high-spirited. 30 fecking degrees though :O
Anyway, what a beautiful city it is.

they do in the first verse (because sweeney is holding a priest pie) - but then as they develop their theme - they range far and wide and abandon the priest pie in search of a profession for which Sweeney can't provide a rhyming couplet - then they range further and leave behind the priest gag altogether... heading towards the finale, which is (of course) the judge.
anyway - makes no odds to me as I am no more a priest than I am an actor a lawyer or a sweep or a judge!
the song was a rib-tickler (though maybe slightly longer than it needed to be) - and, as I said before, Imelda Staunton plays her part triumphantly!
