It was just a memory thing, not a comprehensive list, and yes, "Court" was Courtney Walsh. Back then all their pace men seemed about nine feet tall.

Erm, it was actually "giants" in the awe-inspiring way rather than their actual height in feet and inches.

an investigation on the bbc website has found that humidity has no affect on swing. thus saying that keeping one side of the ball dry and the other damp has no affect on swing

I heard this on the radio yesterday. Immediately struck me as one of these research-group-spouts-bollocks-to-secure-future-funding type investigations as I know guys that can swing a ball both ways.

They were about to interview Phil DeFreitas but I had to dash. Did anyone hear what he had to say?

You're better than me then, fella. I couldn't turn a ball on a corrugated roof

Mate of mines ambidextrous, so he used to swap from right to left arm depending on the handing of the batter. He could swing it two ways with both hands, the nice person.

What I did hear of the radio feature was some guy claiming that humidity has no effect on swing. The evidence and the testimony of every swing bowler since the dawn of the game suggests otherwise, I feel.

He probably said something like "Feck knows, I could never manage it".

Gentlemen, please. Warne could make it both swing and spin, all in the same delivery. I'm sure that none of us will ever forget this. And if anyone ever delivers a better ball than this in my lifetime then I'll eat my house!

Thank you Bruce. Not quite sure what he was calling what he did to us on that awfully unforgetable occasion when he undid our belts and braces, but it sure wasn't anything we could do much about. Call it what you will.
