Its a real can of worms, in short some describe themselves as Northern Irish, others Irish and some British. It can cause a few propblems to call someone from Northern Ireland Irish who class themselves as British. Use your imagination for the reasons.

But they are all Irish as they were born in Ireland. Whether it's NornIron or the Republic it's still Ireland Some may also refer to themselves as British as an extra. In the same way as I was born in England and am therefore English, and British.

Re: im leaving
Yes that's normal geography but in terms of what's happened here over 100's of years it does not work here. Unionists do not like the term Irish because that represents the whole island and does not recongise the border so they classify themselves as Northern Irish or British. Nationalists classify themselves as Irish as they do not recongise the border and wish Ireland to be united and without British ruleGary the Enfield wrote:But they are all Irish as they were born in Ireland. My dad was a Mayo man who came over here, lived here and fought in the war. Must say, he always regarded anything across the Irish Sea as Ireland, end of.
Anyway, Dan won't have any political views so he'll be okay....I er, think...

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Just don't open your mouth when you're near Ivan the Liverpool fan 'my family are British, NI is in the UK, thousands of us emigrated and we'll never be Irish'. I wasn't arguing, this was a bloke who came to Old Trafford wit' Bolton fans, told the cockney reds he was a diehard LFC fan and then twatted a pub full of them when they attempted to start on himGary the Enfield wrote:But they are all Irish as they were born in Ireland. Once saw something similar in the Trafford Arms. A Celtic fan walked in complete with green and yellow scarf and informed the Mancs that United were crap. Nobody argued. Mind you, he was seven feet thirteen and built like Desperate Dan.as wrote:Just don't open your mouth when you're near Ivan the Liverpool fan 'my family are British, NI is in the UK, thousands of us emigrated and we'll never be Irish'. Oh goody. How high can you piss up the wall?
I know plenty of people like Ivan, equally ignorant of their Geography, who swear blind they are English and will never be British. But that wasn't my point. To reiterate the Irish (UK and non UK) either live in Northern IRELAND or the Republic of IRELAND
Geographically, not politically, IRELAND

Tain't naught but the truth, although the whole thing is and always has been about about religion and is a bit "never ending story". I might have married my first serious girlfiend but for the fact I was Catholic of Irish descent and her father was a staunch Orangman.Gary the Enfield wrote: To reiterate the Irish (UK and non UK) either live in Northern IRELAND or the Republic of IRELAND
