I'll tell you what I'm angry about - the London Olympics bunting that been erected on the main road through Harwood. Are they sending the cycling through here or summat? Are the feck. Not even a torch. Shop keepers and the likes are being ordered to take down anything that has the Olympic rings on, simply showing support, as they haven't paid for the privilege. Is any money raised by the Olympics going into local athletics? Is it feck. You could only attempt to buy tickets with the appropriate credit card FFS. That all important Olympic legacy? Turn the stadium into a football stadium. Yeah, great! Well done to absolutely everyone that gets to compete at whatever is is they do - you're dedication deserves so much better than for it to be exploited by one of the greatest revenue-raising rackets on God's Earth.
This bunting has clearly been put up professionally and some sort of hoist involved to hang this shite from council property, so I assume that once again this is further abuse of my tab, What if local businesses did similar? What if Atkinson the Butcher, Nigel Liston, Rushton's, or Ohjimmyjimmy's Fetish Request Boutique decided to hang up bunting on council property? What then, Eh?
By the way - congratulations to the people at the Seven Stars for their magnificent display of patriotism, for their support of live music, their sumptuous hanging baskets, for keeping a splendid pint of Flat Cap and for selling warm Holland's Pies.
May the bridges I burn light your way

There's the fly in the ointment and what you should be annoyed about right there. Hollands??? Bleeeurgh (Involuntarily shuudders) Now posing as matchday shite eating after they replaced the decent stuff they used to sell at t'Bok.

The crowning turd in the waterpipe though was my bloody new neighbour. Went to bed early cos I was up at 8 and off to do a fell race. Was woken up in the early hours by some banging on a house opposite. New occupant is stood in the rain with a little lad, both barefooted trying to wake up her teenage son who was asleep inside. She woke up the whole street but couldn't manage to get him to respond.

Her little lad was quite distressed by now so did the neighbourly thing, got up, went over and took em in ours. She was pi55ed and couldn't remember any numbers to get help. Ended up putting them in my car and taking them to a relatives house across town. Got back in about 2am and then was woke again at 3ish by the dog throwing up :(

She's back now and whilst financial recompense would be nice(!) I thought she'd at least come over and say "Thanks" - Nowt
Awww Harry, you are a sweetie! How is the dog by the way?

My mate's daughter worked where they make them up in Baxenden during her summer hols. She can't even entertain the thought of eating one now. I remain rather bliss in my ignorance. ;)

Magpies. Black and white thieves and scavengers. Found three broken Robin's eggs in the garden today and know it's pretty certain it's the barcode predators. They're always hanging around.

I've been trying since yesterday to buy a season ticket for t'Bok for next season. The website is awful, won't let you choose a seat and keeps ofering me crap lower rows in the East Lower. No problem I thought, I'll ring the ticket office. 3 unanswered calls later and a total holding time approaching 19 minutes and I'm still no nearer. Do the club want my money and my business or not??!!

Bolton Central is closed for the Adidas refit, might be why no answer.

Seat renewal deadline is 4th July, may have better seats after that. Chose Your Seat Day is 7th July.

Rang up this aft & got straight through to the delightful & helpful Liane. I recommend it.

I'm totally pissed off. I live in a part of the world where the transit of the Sun by Venus would have been visible for the total event. It was cloudy - all day (nearly) cloudy. The Sun finally peeked through my local overlay an hour or so after the event. Today the sky is bereft of cloud. I'm off now to have another catatonic episode. *Farewell, Cruel world* :hang:

Monty: Thanks for the link - I hadn't got around to searching for on-line images. That one's a bobby dazzler!

CrazyHorse: Magpies? Milkmen are a dead breed who were consigned to history many years ago where I live. When I did have a milkman it didn't take long for the magpies to work out how to get to the cream; a quick stab of the beak was sufficient to penetrate the foil covering of the bottles. How they learned that there was a treat inside I have no idea. In fact I was surprised that a bird would be interested in milk in the first place. The solution was to drop a beaker over the neck of each bottle. Mr Milkman was kind enough to do so if we left out the beakers with the empties. It also meant no more note writing. The order was the number of beakers. :)
