Use cling film with a bit fo kitchen towel in it bish. Its like when they super glue up wounds. Only better.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

If it's still bleeding get down there. If it's stop then it still prob needs seeing too. Get to the WIC tomorrow.thebish wrote:bin night - so was filling the recycling sacks... plunged hand into recycling box and massively sliced open my index finger on a tin can lid - sharp as a fecking razor - blood everywhere - didn't realise you could lose so much blood from your finger!
anyway - wrapped it in layers of kitchen roll and went to get plasters... decided it needed pressure to stop the bleeding - so - whacked on 4 or five plasters very tightly wound and went to watch Grayson Perry.. throbbing finger - but eventually eased off..
came in here to type Grayson Perry review - realised I could not feel end of finger at all! had wrapped it far to tight..
so - peeled off plasters - and in process set it off spurting blood again - and re-plastered it, only much looser....
is throbbing again now and the kitchen looks like A&E!!

Bish - if you're not there right now, do go to a&e. I did similar opening a can of corned beef a few years ago (and now have a deformed right thumb
) Like you I never realised just how much blood you could lose by cutting a finger, but it is horrendous and very, very painful. You have my sympathy.
Go and get it sorted properly - please!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
thanks for the concern boys! (if I thought I had severed summat crucial or it needed stitches - I would have gone to A&E) - but it didn't look that deep - just long and bloody!
anyway - I'm still alive this morning and the bleeding has stopped (at least there isn't anything seeping out of the plasters!)
anyway - like I said - thanks for the concern!! (I am basically a 2-finger typist - and am using my middle finger of my right hand just now - which is a bit weird...)
(LK - will bear in mind the kitchen foil and clingfilm approach!)
My favoured solution in these cases is a bit of lint with savlon on - and a roll of steri-strip.. but we are all out of that...

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Ordered a taxi for ASAP. 30 minutes later I call them to ask where the hell it is (supposed to be no more than 15 to 20 minute wait over here). The guys says "you want it for now?" Yes that is what I requested 30 minutes ago! "it take long time" No shit!
50 minutes later and I'm still waiting whilst it gets ever hotter out there. Well over 50c yesterday and headed the same direction today

And the Tetanus? Plus if rats have had access to your recycled cans (and they probably have) you run the risk of Weils disease due to the urine they excrete from their permanently open bladders.
Stop being a wuss and take the trip.

If you haven't had an anti-Tetanus jab in the last 10 years you probably need to get one. And you know that in London you're never more than 30 feet from a Rat.

Ali Campbell admitted he had so c'mon, you can.

I have a friend who always buys in bottles of Bishops Finger when I go round!
in fact - there is an ancient Church of England service somewhere in advance of Christmas called "stir-up Sunday" - the day that in ye olden days people used to make their christmas puddings..
not being CofE - but keen to nick any ideas going - I used the idea for a childrens' service and we made a christmas pudding pretty much as the theme for the service... (each ingredient having some spiritual significance etc..)
as a final flourish I declared that the pudding wasn't quite proper as there was no Priest to bless it - but we solved the problem with a generous addition of the aforementioned ale.. job done.
