I wouldn't mind Reo Coker rejoining us. It's frustrating that he ever left in the first place, of course, but if both sides were interested, why not? He's too good for us to turn down out of stubbornness.
Any news on Sanchez?

This is what he thinks too.
Reo Coker will get picked up by a Premier League Club in the bottom half.

Aye transfer window will close and a few clubs who haven't made enough signings or have an injury will suddenly realise theres Reo-Coker there on a free, at which point Nigel will go show me the £££s.

I think we have more priorities than a centre mid, we have enough in that department already and by getting another would only open us up for bids for Mavis/Holden etc. another striker and keeper as a minimum.
Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
Its not so much a centre mid we need, rather an anchor man. A hard tackler to link the defence and midfield in the way muamba did.calcalstar wrote:I think we have more priorities than a centre mid, we have enough in that department already and by getting another would only open us up for bids for Mavis/Holden etc. another striker and keeper as a minimum.

Indeed and, to his credit, it looks as though Coyle has realised this, as per his pursuit of both Carlos Sanchez and Oriol Romeu.
Doubt we'll sign either, but at least we've recognised that we need to sign that sort of player.

Agreed. What other position is more important than a defensive midfielder/game controller at the moment?CAPSLOCK wrote:Have we bollockscalcalstar wrote:I think we have more priorities than a centre mid, we have enough in that department already

I think that's what Andrews' role will be. Personally, I'd prefer him to be more of a box to box player but he has been used as a defensive midfielder in the past and until Holden is back, I think that's what his role will be.
I'd like a bit more cover though.

Muamba is out indefinitely, Holden is unreliable to say the least, Vela is a child.
Who does that leave for central midfield? Pratley, Andrews and Mark Davies. Shit, average and could-be-really-good-if-not-played-in-central-midfield. Champions.

Morning Wanderers peeps, here's a couple of news items

Can't see this happening myself, he's signed a new contract and will probably see what happens to us during the season

Never heard of this fella, 'highly-rated' seems to be the new in phrase

The Wiggin - CYL link came up earlier this week. Seriously ... absolutely seriously, if Wiggan, of all the shite, offered a paltry £3m then I'd rather he sat out another complete season not playing & training with St. Joseph's Yr 8's than let him go to the Pie-Dome.
... & linked to another centre-half ? Really ? Are they the new full-backs ?

Re: Jaffka's gossip thread on the ins and outs at the 'Bok
I was surprised at the sums of money being talked about for Lonergan (£200k) and the CB Leeds are presumably going to use the money on (£300k). Bit of a change from the gazzillions in the best league in the world.
If LCY has a few years on his contract and no opt-out then we'd have to hold out for big money. (Like Bobo said) considering all the fuss Wigan made over the cost of their player of the season they might not want to pay what we'd want. Either way it gives me hope he'll be here for the first half if it's just penny-pinching Wigan that want him. TBF, if someone offered the Elk money for any of our squad you'd be crazy to turn it down.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Too true all that. We'd be mad to turn some bat-sh*t crazy bid down for him, £3m is a bit of an insult in truthArmchair Wanderer wrote:I was surprised at the sums of money being talked about for Lonergan (£200k) and the CB Leeds are presumably going to use the money on (£300k). Let's be honest, if we let Lee go to Wigan, we might as well close the fcking doors and the last one out can turn off the lights.bobo the clown wrote:The Wiggin - CYL link came up earlier this week.
