I can't blame him either. I've always really liked Tim Cahill and I think he's been a model professional during his Everton career, so I can't begrudge him making plenty more money before he retires.

He would have been great though, I'm sure.

Eh?! There's an annual salary cap in the MLS of $2,810,000 per team (according to Wikipedia). He was earning more than that alone at Everton. I seem to remember Ream was on about $40,000 at Red Bulls – $40,000 per year! So he's obviously not gone there for the salary.
Certain players are on much more than that. Marquez, Henry, Keane, Beckham etc.. Cahill will be getting the same wages as them.

Agreed, but what makes us think St. Owen would have any more intention to play him than he did last year ??
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Don't know if i'm in the minority but I thought he was poor, like really really dire. Enjoyed watching him with Stoke years back and was bristling with excitement when I first saw him (Liverpool away I think it was) but he was a let down for me. Will agree though he wasn't played to his strengths but will that change?? Also wasn't it believed his relationship with OC was a little frostyy??

Disclaimer: I also rate David Ngog though so maybe i'm just a poor judge of player!

Have I really just read someone seriously suggest we could've attracted Tim Cahill?

There are bleeding premier league clubs who wouldn't have been able to attract him against the US competition.

Each team is allowed up to three "designated players." Only the first $350,000 of their salary counts against the cap. So even though Henry makes over $5 million a year, he's still only a $350,000 hit against the cap. Transfer fees also count towards the cap, so Cahill will definitely be a DP.

He seemed fair decent at Boro and Stoke but he was fecking awful for us. Looked completely lost most of the time.

As would anyone played so badly out of position.

It'd be like asking Knight to play centre hal.......

A forward to a winger isn't massively different and shouldn't be used as an excuse for running as if your shoelaces are tied together, falling over the ball and being generally shit.

For someone that is paid thousands a week to play football you'd expect at least basic controlling and passing of the ball. That was somehow beyond this joker in his time with us.

There was a comment on the official site during the game tonight that we might get Hazard's younger broher on loan. Sort of a minor hazard?

Ah, I see. I felt it couldn't be true as I was writing it, but saw nothing to the contrary in the WIkipedia article. Shame really – I liked the idea of Beckham earning £30,000.

Thorgan is a great player, not too far off his brother potential-wise, but he's an attacking midfielder. Do we really need him with Eagles and Mark Davies?

Expect many more of them throught the season Bish, a name like Hazard doesnt come long every day...for example, just think how dangerous he must be at set pieces!
