Cancelling clients. Drove all the way to Lancaster only to find they had cancelled ten minutes after I'd set off. Not impressed!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
every time I load a BBC sport page...
I can accept that the generic sport page is plastered with Olympic bollox - but if I select any sub-category of sport - mainly cricket today - then a huge banner unfurls itself at the top of the page insisting that I "Click the plus symbol next to an athlete, country, sport or event’s name to add it to your Olympic Favourites."
I'm not interested in the fecking olympics - I clicked on your CRICKET pages cos I wanted to bask in the glory of England nipping out two late wickets with their useless 4-man attack and a new ball....
enough already!!!

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Could be. I have two extensions that may stop these annoying pop-ups.thebish wrote:I'm using firefox...malcd1 wrote:

These are "Adblock Plus Pop-Up Addon 0.4" & "Adblock Plus 2.1.2"

My latest job interview.
Initial interview yesterday all fine and dandy. Job's for a customer service role with some company, who shall remain nameless. Sounds right up my street, advert said £15-20K a year. I go back today for a second interview, which turns out to be more of a trial day.
I ended up walking off it. They wanted 6 days a week, 11 hours a day, and the only pay I'd get was commission. It was, essentially, door to door sales. Not happy.

Got caught with one of those back in the day TW. American insurance company, sent you all over the place, use your own car and just commision. Well avoided.truewhite15 wrote:My latest job interview.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Had exactly the same experience several years ago. Lucrative salary and a 2 stage interview. At the end of the 1st day after we'd been fed loads of facts & figures and lots of skirting round the edges I asked "What exactly is the job?". The guys response was designed to humiliate me in front of the other candidates, something along the lines of "Were you not listening? Are you struggling to understand?" I dug my heels in a bit and he said it would all be explained in greater detail the following day.truewhite15 wrote:My latest job interview.

A bit of research on my part that night and I discovered the job was selling vacuum cleaners on commission only. Can't say I'm surprised to see this kind of carry on still continuing 25 years later

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Bad luck with the waste of time, truewhite, but at least you had the sense to realise what was going on. Many years ago, as a teenager looking for weekend work, I applied for a part time job as a sales lad in an automotive accessories business. There were about 20 other lads in the room by the time things settled down. All the organisers did was hand out a questionnaire - which was as thick as a daily newspaper, although not as big. I scanned the questions before I even stuck my name on the blasted thing. I couldn't believe the totally irrelevant information they were after. After pondering for a minute or two I drew a neat line diagonally across the front of the thing and filled in my name.
Rather than just walk out of the room I decided to wait for the reaction. Sure enough, after all applicants had finished this marathon task of stupidity, Mr Dujon was asked to stand up and explain himself. I told them the truth as I saw it. No, I didn't get the job.
