Owen Coyle Bingo 2012/13
Think we should have this as an ongoing thread....this is a fantastic starter....
“We’re all excited and looking forward to the season,” he said. “Football is the best game in the world. We’re going to a very difficult venue against a very good side with a terrific young manager, but it’s a game we’re all looking forward to – getting out there playing and showing our quality.
“We have to make sure that we’re not only ready for a vocal atmosphere, but that but equally we’re ready to play on the pitch and get the ball down, pass and move it across the grass and look to try and win three points.
“It’s like any other game. I’ve certainly been in many intimidating atmospheres away from home and nothing will change on Saturday. The Burnley fans are vocal, they’re passionate about their side and that’s one thing we identified when we were working there.
“But it’s about us. We’re looking to get back to the Premier League and we think we have enough quality to do that. We know how demanding the Championship is and the quality it holds, but it’s a challenge that we’re looking to be ready for.
“Everybody will feel there is an opportunity to get off to a flying start. You want to make sure you hit the ground running – to do that you’re going to have to play very well. The better you play, the more chance you have of achieving those results and having the start the everybody craves.
“Pre-season served its purpose. That four or five weeks of intensive training gives you the platform to really have the freshness to last the season. What we’ve done is gradually built up and last week was terrific.
“We went to Tranmere and put in a terrific performance. We changed the team again when we played Barcelona B on the Friday and, again, put in another terrific performance, so I think it stands us in good stead heading into Saturday.
“The lads are very excited to get out and play. What you have to do is get out there, deal with the pressure and make sure you show your quality on the pitch – that’s what we’ll look to do.
“We have a good balance with some of the young players that have got much better – Adam Bogdan and Mark Davies. We’ve also got Chung-Yong Lee and Tyrone Mears fit, so it’s great to have that quality added to the squad.

BWFCi, I would add "get the ball down". Has he ever told you he likes to play football the right way?

Coyle must be related to the gimp played by Paul Whitehouse - "Isn't milk great!"

'Sublime finish' is a common one, especially when it's an Ngog tap in from 6 yards out.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

it's got to the point where i just don't read/watch coyle's interviews. its just one platitude after another and none of it really means anything. dull dull dull. i bet the players feel the same about his team talks etc.

Re: Owen Coyle Bingo 2012/13
Owen Coyle has called for his squad to react to their second half performance at Burnley by flying out of the traps against Derby County this coming Tuesday.
Wanderers’ first game in the second tier since 2001 ended in a 2-0 defeat at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.
Martin Paterson, a player Coyle signed during his time with the Clarets, controversially nodded the hosts in front prior to the break before Charlie Austin doubled the lead on 57 minutes.
And speaking in his pre-match press conference, the manager stressed the importance of a positive response against Derby.
“We need a big positive reaction to our second half performance on Saturday,” he explained. “We have to be ready for how tough and demanding the Championship is and ready for how hard teams work. If we match that, then we believe we have enough quality to win these games.
“Derby are a good side with some terrific players, as they’ve shown in the opening games of the season. They’ve scored a lot of goals, in the cup tie against Scunthorpe and the weekend’s game against Sheffield Wednesday.
“We have to make sure we’re ready for the challenge they pose, but equally, that we’re ready to impose ourselves. If we do that, it’s a game I’m convinced we can win.”
Two games in the space of four days present Bolton with an opportunity to catapult themselves up the Championship league table.
After Tuesday’s game against Derby, Nottingham Forest and the Sky television cameras visit the Reebok Stadium on Friday evening with the manager keen to reward the fans for their continued support.
Coyle added: “These are two massive home games. We have to pick ourselves up and make sure we’re ready to win the points.
“We had 3,600 fans at Turf Moor on Saturday – it felt more like 15,000 because of the backing they gave the players. It’s now up to us to show how much we value the support, by going out there and bringing it all together and winning football games.
“There’s no doubting that we need to improve coming into this home game against Derby County. We’ll take the positives from the Burnley game and look to pick up three points on Tuesday evening that will put us right back in the mix.”

The only positive from the Burnley game was the fact that it only lasted 94 minutes..

I rather enjoyed this from the captain this morning:
we will be looking to come out of the blocks 100 miles an hour to get the season off and running

I quite like that he does it. In fact I'd say its terrific. I mean accepting that we were poor, its terrific he's come out and said those terrific words. Lots of quality in that statement too. And accepting that we lost, the quality we could show, really is terrific.James B wrote:why does he always praise the opposition to a sycophantic extent?

Last thing we want to do is fire up the opposition. Especially with the bunch of fannies we've got. He can keep saying nice things.James B wrote:why does he always praise the opposition to a sycophantic extent?
