Re: Where are you going tonight?
Today was a day trip to Stratford.
King John was a really inventive production set - not altogether convincingly - in the psychedelic 1960s, complete with giant balloons.
This made me wonder a little if someone had seen David Thacker's brilliant Midsummer Night's Dream at the octagon 3 years ago, and decided to nick its central idea.
It isn't a masterwork in anything other than sheer invective... shakespeare was so good at sustained insult of a pretty vicious - but impressive - order.
but the production was fab, and it's another ticked off my list. Yes!

I'm going to The Well in Clerkenwell to host a pub quiz! Nervous times.

Will it be a regular gig? Chuck a few ridiculous bwfc ones in for a laugh!
Re: Where are you going tonight?
I go to a quiz on Monday nights near my flat. I went up to the quizmaster afterwards once and asked: "How do I get to do your job?" And he gave me a number of a guy who runs a london-based quiz company - basically booking gigs and getting saps like me to cover them. First one tonight so excited!
ARe you interested Bruce? Obviously as I've said it's London centric but he does sometimes ask if we know people up and around the north to cover special corporate events.

No, I'm just covering for someone else tonight. But hopefully I'll get one soon. Most of the quizzes are annoyingly in the leafy subs of west London, so if one comes up east or central I'll probs go for it.General Mannerheim wrote:Will it be a regular gig? Was just intrigued really, Verbal, but I suppose I could be. It'll get me out the house.

I shout in a pub for free as it is, just saw it as a chance to get paid doing that.
Nay bother. If you're at a quiz around yours just ask the guy who does it after. He'll probably nknow people who organise them

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Sorry i didn’t make it, ive been trying to find a suitable squash team to play for while im down here and last night was a clubnight for the Honourable Royal Artillery team! Ive been to a few of these clubnights and they’ve either been too shit or too cliquey but this lot were surprisingly alright, very well to do folk but still friendly. i buried them all at squash of course but they were dead welcoming and keen to sign me up. They invited me for supper at the HAC House afterwards, but i didn’t have a ‘jacket & tie’ (Tuesday night!?) so wasn’t allowed in. fecking jacket and tie!? balls to that every week! The search continues...Verbal wrote:Went really well in the end! Definitely looking forward to the next one.

off up to that SushiSamba ooop Heron Tower later. only for a nosey, shant be dining there unless thay accept tastecard!
This morning i was adamant that id go and kick the shit out of the gym for an hour or so after work, have a swim too, sauna etc etc, proper session - one pint at dinner has completely written it off.

We don't have a 'Where Aren't You Going Tonight' thread. Tried to get tickets for Our Country's Good at The Octagon tonight. Nae chance. My own fault for leaving it too late - it finishes tomorrow.

Don't we know someone with an 'in' at the Octagon?
I think it's only fair (seeing as you acted as his carer when I did the Parkrun) that he could, at the very least, affect a backstage pass!
