Re: Today I'm angry about.....
The reason for one of my most embarrasing moments. Again, I don't know if it applies now, but as a visiting worker I had to produce my passport for identity/security reasons before we went out to the rig. It had conveniently just run out, and when I went to Bootle post office, to renew it, I got asked where I was going by a friendly bird behind the counter. Her face, when I said "Morcambe", was a mixture of disbelief and pity as she exclaimed in a loud voice: "Aw, You don't need a passport to go to Morecambe lovey " My own face was rather er, red.ohjimmyjimmy wrote: Yep you can still smoke on a lot of the rigs. The full survival suit on the chopper is stil mandatory too!
Morecambe Bay field still going strong, had a couple of guys out there recently.

Good News - Some employees have been given discretionary bonuses (I know 'cos I'm one)
Bad News - No bonus scheme next year and the pay freeze stands
Still, could be worse.
sheesh.
More likely HR issuing one letter sayin we're getting nowt, but not telling management and the senior management.

You know, that takes special skill. Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Not particularly my anger but the knobhead's sat opposite me now. I'm surprised I've never posted about any of his Daily Mailesque rants before.
Anyway his rant for the day is the change to his pension. I assume he means the enforced/opt out top-up thing that they've just introduced, not sure because it's hard to tell exactly what it is that's upset him. He's complaining that they're taking a couple of hundred off him a month, without advanced warning. Starting from next month.
Now, this was all over the news when it kicked in. And they've also just told him yesterday that's it's starting next month, which sounds like advanced warning to me. Anyway his bitterest venom was aimed at the union, apparently it was their responsibility to tell everyone that this was coming in. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but the thing is, the silly prick isn't even in the union.

Re: Today I'm angry about.....
It's people like him that don't appreciate what the nanny state in league with uncle Union are doing for them. Presumably the money going 'missing' is the pension he wasn't bothering to save for that if he didn't get he'd have whinged about not being told about how he had to save for.CrazyHorse wrote:Not particularly my anger but the knobhead's sat opposite me now. The compulsory pension came into force this month but only for Company's of 125,000 or over .... it'll be staged in over the next year or so for smaller businesses.CrazyHorse wrote:Not particularly my anger but the knobhead's sat opposite me now. In most cases is held at a mere 1% from the employee, though rising oveer the years. People will STILL be able to opt-out, if they are daft enough. Over 11m employees are without pension funds & I'd think this was something which should be supported by all people.
Obviously I don't know the details here, but if this is excersing him to the point of rant well ..... then again, rants are more fun when they're illogical.

Indeed! He can opt out, if he is an idiot. It's 1% from the employee and 1% from the employer isn't it? So as with almost all such schemes, if you don't take it, you are giving up free money!

He's just come in now.
Been here about three minutes and he's still banging on about this pension thing.
Plus we've also had him calling the Poles a bunch of cheats for having that game postponed last night.
Riiiight.

Very rare bird if he didn't. One of my daftest was jumping off the balcony at Bridgeman Street baths. Knocked myself sensless and had to be dragged out before I drowned.
