They're ace. But until you get one you will always say they're not. Constantly use mine.

Great for web browsing in front of the tv for a start. Far more practical than a laptop. But no doubt you disagree.

Have one for a week and I'm sure you would not want to give it back.....

doesn't the iphone do web-browsing in an ace and intuitive way??
iPhone = for when you're out and about.
iPad = for when you're at home.
sounds like a whole lot of money when I have a pc at home that is capable of browsing the web... I don't often want to be browsing the web when I am watching the telly anyway - cos, well, I'm watching the telly!!

You're wrong. I've used one. I have an iphone, a laptop and a PC. Like I asked, point out a single benefit of me owning an ipad. You haven't. by the way, I'm replying to you from my laptop that's on the coffee table in front of the TV. So how is your ipad more practical?

So do you, no doubt, disagree?

There is just no point arguing over it. I can lay on the sofa with my iPad, can have take it wherever I go easily.

Fair enough if you're happy with what you've got.

I'm certainly not trying to convince you otherwise.

Mostly for web browsing and possibly some educational Apps for the kids as they get older BWFCi. Be nice to have my music on there but not the end of the world if I don't.

Bobo, Mr GG just has an irrational apple hatred, he may be right in that we could get far more for the money if we got a laptop, but I don't find it comfy web browsing on the laptop in front of the tv - too heavy and clunky and my iPhone is a bit fiddly, am posting from it now but it's not that easy, being so small.

Is it worth paying extra for 3G if I have an iPhone as well? Am guessing not.

Everyone I know who has bought one has said the Nexus is as good as the iPad and waaaay cheaper. Plus hubby would be happy it wasn't Apple.

As for tablets, I'm yet to be convinced when the case for buying something is 'it can do most of the things your laptop can, slower; and, it's fecking touchscreen'. No, thank you. 'Oh but the battery life is good'. Firstly, even trains have plug sockets now, and secondly, read a book! 'It turns straight on'. So does my laptop. And my laptop is a crappy cheapo Dell. Shut the lid, it goes off, open the lid it is back on where I left it.

£150 plus? No. Ta.

I bought my wife a Nexus for Christmas. I have had to set it up and had a little play so that when she asks me on Christmas Day I know how to work it. I just don't see the fascination with tablets at all. There is no way I would swap one for my laptop or PC. Under any circumstances.

Are they 2 ? I doubt this one will survive into their serious eductional needs.

You want one, GG, coz they're high fashion. Admit it.

Not because they're fashionable, I just like the look of apple products I'll admit. They're pretty. ;)

You'd be surprised the amount of apps you can get for pre- schoolers. I have a postman pat learning game on my iPhone. Great for whacking on when Jack is in mid tantrum.

I'm clearly old fashioned - pre-schoolers do not need apps!! and summat shiny and distractey is not the same as "educational"!!

anyway - i'd give it 7 weeks before you crack the screen (or the kids do) - or you drop it in the bath or down a drain!
