Like the way people on here are working very hard to tell people not to buy apple products, and telling those that have them that they aren't really what they want, honest governor....
It's bizarre.

I don't believe anyone has told GG not to buy one.

Re: Technology Thread.
An extremely intelligent and very knowledgable ex-manager of mine who's recently retired, is spending some of his spare time at a university, trying to educate the new generation. He recently recommended a technical book to a student and put a copy in front of him. The student replied "I'm not very good with books", at which point he took a photo of the front cover of the book with his iPhone and exclaimed "I'll look it up online"

Hope is what keeps us going.

Thankyou for your faith in me Philip.thebish wrote:I'm clearly old fashioned - pre-schoolers do not need apps!! and summat shiny and distractey is not the same as "educational"!!Gooner Girl wrote:Not because they're fashionable, I just like the look of apple products I'll admit. You'd be surprised the amount of apps you can get for pre- schoolers. I have a postman pat learning game on my iPhone. Great for whacking on when Jack is in mid tantrum.
anyway - i'd give it 7 weeks before you crack the screen (or the kids do) - or you drop it in the bath or down a drain!

And no, they don't need apps but I do think iPads are far better then pcs in terms of use for the kids ( if I do decide to let them get their grubby mitts on it...)

Easier to throw at someone when they annoy you than a laptop. You'll also miss it less than the laptop when it inevitably doesn't workBruce Rioja wrote:Can anyone point out a single benefit of owning a ipad to me, at all?

With all this technology, why can't a part of it find my fecking phone that I put down somewhere "safe" last night.

my greatest ever was after a session, hiding my Calcutta cup tickets and then going back out, took me 2 days to find them and I was convinced I had given them away

Did that with my wallet last year - I know I had it when I got back to the house, because we ordered some food in (with my card from my wallet). Never been found.jaffka wrote:Worthy4England wrote:With all this technology, why can't a part of it find my fecking phone that I put down somewhere "safe" last night.![]()

Did it contain a Euromillions ticket by any chance. Quite a few people have been looking for that, you could have saved them a lot of bother...Worthy4England wrote:Did that with my wallet last year - I know I had it when I got back to the house, because we ordered some food in (with my card from my wallet). Re: Technology Thread.
Took the plunge on the new laptop as there was a decent deal on one. It's got proper letters on the keyboard but also them squiggly arabic letters as well. I think I can see how dyslexia can affect people now. Bloomin confusing it is. Anyway, it has got Windows 8. On the whole it is ok but it does like to crash
Some useful customisation features with the tiles but it does feel like a confusing mix of Windows 7 and something else. Some will like it, some will hate it. So advice is to have a serious play around on it before taking the plunge.

Don't buy Apple products.
And to anyone who has done, you're a lesser human being for having done so. Especially you GG.
