indeed - almost as interesting as...Bruce Rioja wrote:While shepherds watched their flocks by night where the ducks played football? Interesting!thebish wrote:went out carol singing in the pubs of Newton Abbot...
met the drunkest Landlady in the south west in the Locomotive!
and introduced the locals to "While shepherds watched their flocks by night" to the tune "Ilkley Moor..."
the angel of the Lord came down
(with his trousers down)
all good clean ribald fun - and honouring the ancient english tradition of carols going well with beer.

Hate, dear boys, is as strong an emotion as love. I don't hate anyone simply because I don't find their stab at humour to be funny.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Not tonight, but Sunday coming.
It's the football teams Xmas do. It's starting at 11:30 in the morning. I'm in work the next day. A few of the lads are pretty well connected and there's usually 20 odd of us go, so we get pretty good treatment in various bars. Everyone gets battered. And Monday will be agony.
I'm looking forward to it, but at the same time I'm dreading it. Looking at pictures last year there's probably a 3 hour block of completely memory loss.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Been on a football do. Been drinking since 11am. Still drinking now. At home though, so I can cry as much as I like about the hangover that I can feel developing.

Last weekend:
Went to Bill's in Angel on works do on Friday, food pish, but good fun if that makes sense. Wish they could cook.
Then, ice skating at the tower of London on Saturday. Good fun, neither of us fell over once, and we watched and laughed as everyone else fell over loads or cocked around like cowards on the edge, enjoyed! Wasn't football.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
I did my once a year visit to the Church. In the past year it seems a family have joined the congeregation and sort of taken over.
They greeted us (really ? Who the fck are you ?), they ran the music ... All 15 carols & hymns. They led the singing, they did the readings, they collected the offerings, they carried the various items in & out.
Frankly it's like a coup had taken place.
The head honcho played guitar, throughout ... & too loudly. They were one-step from going happy-clappy, which was a coincidence as I was that same one-step from burying the guitar round his head.
They even played brass instruments ... well, they blew them. What the fck noise came out I've no idea.
If they think I'm going back in 12 months time they may need to think again, presumptuous b'stards. That'll teach 'em.
Happy Christmas !!
Now, here's 6d, run along & buy the largest turkey in the shop. Keep the change.

Nice to see the spirit of Christmas is with you Bobo.
You should have gone to the Methodist church, which would have been a completely different experience.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Went to my son-in-law's sisters and had a great laid-back Christmas Day with family and friends. A really superb meal, drinks galore and a relaxed happy atmosphere. Finished off the day watching the recorded Christmas Strictly with Fabrice doing a good job on the dance floor. Hot mug of tea and off to bed. Perfick.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
A group of us had a cross-country winter walk to The Bob's Smithy for lunch. Lovely post re-furb hostelry, I had Linguine with bacon, cream and garlic - very nice indeed, and a couple of Timmy Taylor's - excellent. Should probably have ordered a side of garlic bread but hey ho. A couple of the group ordered meals that came with chips. Now then, get this, they actually peel potatoes in the back, chip them up then deep fry them: Oh, what a revelation

It has and they have opened The Old Forge bistro restaurant thingy next door.
My niece works in there and I had some birthday beers in there last night with my dad (his birthday).
Nice place.
