I did 9 miles last night in 68 minutes. Went out with three lads from work, one of who(m) had never run more tan 6 miles before. Feel like I'm ready for my month of races now. 5mile race on Sunday, half marathon 6th March 10 miler 30th March and a half marathon 7 th Apri.

Pru there are two flat runs in Enfield on Saturdays both at 9:00am. Grovelands Park and Oakhill Park (both in Southgate). Check them out.

Not a great start to my racing month. Stinking cold the last couple of days which may recede enough for me to do my 5 miler tomorrow. Let's see.

It didn't. Gutted I didn't race as my club won the league with a great performance yesterday. Now I appreciate my attendance (or lack of) had no bearing on the final result and I'm nowhere near being in the same group as our top men but still, I would have liked to have been there.

Have to look forward to my half marathon in two weeks now instead.

What plan are you following Bruce? 7 miles seems a bit far for a 5k training plan.

If you like I can get a programme which should get you to 5k much quicker.

Sorry mate, should've explained better. The run is part of the couch to 5K plan. The walk was, well, because I fancied a walk.

And I should have read it better. Good luck. It may help you to set a target. Why not go for the Park run one Saturday in late April/ Early May?

Only just over 2km run today as after my mentoring session standing round in the cold I was running late and I had to get to Sainsburys before it shut but I nearly bottled out of running tonight so i'm looking on that as an achievement (even if it really isn't and is a pathetic amount, don't burst my bubble)

it's 2k more than you had done this morning!

I'm so far behind on my marathon training in terms of miles done, I'm having to drag myself out on the odd mornings to try and catch up a bit. Got 15 miles to do this Sunday as I have a 20 mile race the weekend after which has sneaked up bloody quickly I can tell you. :(

Looked like you ran up some blooming steep mountains on holiday or were those photos all for effect? You'll be fine, you fell runners are tough stuff (some might say not quite all there in the head ;))

More for nice photos than quality running to be honest, although I did drag myself out for 10 miles one day. Just my preparation this year has been lacking and interrupted far more than previous attempts. Still, I've got 10 weeks left to get some good sessions in.

We're hurtling towards spring so I'm sure you'll get out more as the evenings get a bit longer

10 weeks is ages!

Have to say the cold did chill my bones tonight, very off putting, I think I'd rather run in rain then such freezing conditions. Looking forward to Spring. Am starting to psyche myself up already for footy tomorrow on worlds chilliest astro turf pitch.

Think I need to take up some indoor sports.

Did the same nine miles last night as two weeks ago. 1 minute faster (67 mins). I have a half marathon on Sunday which I'm hoping to do at the same pace.

You and your dirty mind...

Well done GtE - that's a big chunk to knock off.

Observing a coach last night doing some speed endurance with our endurance group. They looked flipping knackered at the end!

We actually ran 200 yards further than the last time too, so realistically it was about 2.5 minutes faster. I'm running with a guy who has completed the the Norseman Ironman (supposedly the world's toughest) and he's bloody quick!

Good for you to have someone to push you. The guy I run with is faster then me at the moment and I am sure without trying to keep up with him i'd be even slower at the moment (if that's possible)

You'll be grand. Are you only running once a week though Bruce? (or have I tragically misread again)
