Oh dear. We've had a meeting called for ten minutes time. I fear the great burnt toast issue will be number one on the agenda. I shall report back...

Yep. Toast can kill, it’s official. We now have to keep the toaster turned down to mark three or less, and two people must be in the kitchen whenever equipment (toaster, microwave, kettles, etc) is being used, and because they don’t want us wasting time and as a result of the two-person rule we now all have rota allocations as to when we can use the kitchen and are reduced to twenty minutes in total each per day, and also when anybody is in the kitchen and upon hearing the fire alarm we must immediately unplug all electrical equipment at the socket ‘on the way out’.
FFS. Because of one burnt piece of toast. I did point out that virtually the only time that the building is in danger of burning down due to toast catching fire is when we’ve left toast on because we’ve left the building because the building is already on fire – but I just got the now familiar glare back at me.

But what if there's a fire in the kitchen. You know, where stuff is quite prone to catching fire.

You don't happen to work for a major energy generator/supplier do you? Cos that's the sort of crap we have here on a daily basis. We now have to use a tray to carry a brew from the kitchen to our desks in case we spill a bit and cause multiple horrific deaths due to a slip based accident.Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Yep. Toast story has highly amused me and those who sit around me in this office!
CH can you clarify that you'd still have to use a tray for just one brew? Thanks.

We have a two-brew policy, one cup is fine in your hand, two or more is a tray.
It must be the first thing they teach in a Human Resources / SHEQ degree.

You would be sent to an Indonesian jail and sentenced to death, if any HR or H&S person saw you doing that!
After they'd spontaneously combusted with fear & indignation of course...

Yep, even for just one brew and you're not allowed near any stairs with them. I've a a feeling the next step will be having to hold the tray with both hands at all times which will make navigating the doors a laugh.Athers wrote:Toast story has highly amused me and those who sit around me in this office!

We also have to wear blue overshoes when inside, we can't carry anything over 1kg without wearing gloves and nothing over 10kg at all. I also have to wear a high vis, hard hat and safety glasses when not inside and steel toe caps at all times. There's no lifting, running, making any mess or using the stairs without holding the hand rail. Oh and we have to reverse park in the car park. Y'know, just in case.
I'm not knocking it though. These precautions are here for everyone's health and well-being.....

Not at all, except by the company who installed the electrics. If you suffered accident you could aways sue them for not posting a notice over the switch saying " Do not switch this on with your nose!" You could sue for millions.thebish wrote:ohjimmyjimmy wrote:We have a two-brew policy, one cup is fine in your hand, two or more is a tray.
