Well, if we're talking guitar work, take a look at this! fantastic line-up including George Harrisons son, Dhani, at Georges benefit concert playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Magnificent music for 3.30m and then up steps Prince to raise the stakes. Wow!

Can we all, please, stop using the word 'amazeballs'. It makes me feel ever so slightly ill. Thanking you in advance. Well, today I downloaded Jimi Hendrix's new one ! Some going almost 43 years after he croaked.
Also, a new Clapton and a new JJ Cale. So Mother's Day will be guitar heaven.

Old Sock from Clapton? No doubt it'll end up in my collection too.

Yep .... dedicated to JK Rowling's 'Dobbie' I believe.clapton is god wrote:Old Sock from Clapton? No doubt it'll end up in my collection too.
not heard a note of it yet, but then again I had no idea it was due.
The Hendrix is ok, but the 'finding & refining of old out-takes' shirley has taken it's final cut. The guy only released, I think, 5 albums whilst alive. Must be 50+ since then.
Edit: the Hendrix is OK, given he's been dead 43 years. Not exactly ground breaking (which is probably a good thing)
The Clapton is very mellow & very caapable. Well worth a go.
The Cale is, as ever, excellent.

I'm considering buying it. The deluxe Cd has three extra songs. Which one have you got? is it worthwhile going for the deluxe version?CAPSLOCK wrote:New Bowie

Re: What are you playing tonight?
I thought it was a grower. Liked it better the more I listened to it. Only heard one off the album, on Ken Bruce this morning and it was okay - but no more than that.Bruce Rioja wrote:I heard the single. Music to stun pigs to.CAPSLOCK wrote:New Bowie

I was going to buy it, but I think I'll wait until I've heard a couple of tracks now.clapton is god wrote:I thought it was a grower. Liked it better the more I listened to it. Re: What are you playing tonight?
My partner has worked out a new System:
I buy Clearance CDs still, but don't open them! When I get home I stream some of it on Youtube and if I like it I open it!
First one down is awesome!!!!
Forest Stream is a symphonic black / doom / Gothic metal band formed in Chernogolovka, Russia in 1995. The band draws inspiration from long and harsh Russian winters. Stylistically, the band's epic sound combines the atmosphere of the British doom metal of the 1990s and of the Norwegian black metal. The band's lyrics revolve around the themes of sorrow and hopelessness.

Re: What are you playing tonight?
Trying to get into Classical music at the moment. Turns out, there's quite a fecking lot of it. Did a few of the big famous bits over the weekend to get me in the mood. Decided to give a few piano concertos a go as I quite like piano music (that's the stage I'm at). Reckon arias will be another one to do as well.
Tonight is Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2. Bits of it are awesome, but other bits are a bit too 'Russian'. Sounds like a parody of plinky-plonky music you'd get over the top of a sped up 1930's grainy video of a potato farmer with no teeth working hard for Mother Russia.
