You're still confusing me bish.

Do you want this guy in our country, or not ?

To be honest, you seem more happy at the various government's embarrassments are their failed attempts to expel him than whether the guy being here or not is your priority.

Kep, or lose ?
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I don't know enough to judge - neither do you. what i would like is for the the govt. to stop using him as a political football and charge him with what he is supposed to have done wrong - if he really is a threat to our national security. many people have said he is - but nobody has told me why he is yet...

I am not happy at the govt's embarrassment - the previous govt. was just as embarrassed - I was happy that the govt cannot simply bully its way out of the international treaties and commitments it has made.

as i have said before - I don't think that the extradition policy of as nation such as ours should allow concepts of whether we "like" someone or not or "want to keep him" here or "lose him" to over-ride the treaties we have signed and the international commitments we have made.

if we operated like that - then we might as well sign over the government to Simon Cowell and run it like the X-factor.

Do you accept that it is possible for somebody to be considered a threat to our national security without having committed a criminal offence on British soil?

Our security services and Government have to make this judgement - who else can?! You can see some of what he is accused of around the world. It's true that we as individual citizens are very poorly equipped to make the call as to how seriously to take these accusations - could it really be any other way?

... and he has no right to be here other than that he landed & pleaded for our help, which he has subsequently abused by doing little more (at best) that calling us not fit to burn and inciting people & I DO think the country "liking him" is relevant, he's here as a guest, soaks up funds and offers nothing positive while calling our society shite.

I'd just like him to fck off .... or be fckd off.

I don't care where to.

Don't need to at the minute and should't have to for perceived threat. That's the point. I hope the government of whatever colour and persuasion continues to fight for our right not to have to accept any fooker regardless.

I understand bobo's argument - he doesn't like him, it seems, because he fails to behave with the good manners expected of a guest. I think that's the argument.

But I'm having difficulty working out how he is a threat to our national security. He condones Jihadist violence, which is appalling, in the past he has advocated it, but I don't feel it's threatening to our national security. If there is a link between him and any Jihadist violence while he has been resident here, make the case. What is to be lost by doing it? He himself has never been told why he is undergoing lengthy imprisonment or -effectively - house arrest for ten years. This is Kafkaesque. He can't refute anything if he doesn't even know what is alleged.

most asylum seekers arrive with no papers (about 80%) or false papers - it's the nature of the beast when you are fleeing a country that doesn't want you to flee...

i'm not totally up to speed with qatada's paperwork route - but the charge that he arrived with false papers is hardly unusual in cases of asylum seekers.

He arrived with false papers. He applied immediately for asylum on the grounds of religious persecution and was granted leave to remain pretty quickly. Surprisingly so.

Surprisingly so in what respect William?

Understood, but is he insinuating that it was a return favour?

After all, we're not privy to the full extent of our security services activities (quite right too! comes the cry) perhaps such an odious man was granted quick asylum for a reason? And now, perhaps, his usefulness has run its course?

I thought they were allowed to do what they wanted though? So why would that be such an outrageous thought? If they're allowed such freedom?
