Tonight's Football

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

The Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, Extra Time, 2 sent off, including Ronaldo. Mourinho sent from the pitch-side. Diving, ranting, raving, extra time with 7+ minutes of added time in the final section alone .... at one point to waste time the Athletico officials throw 3 balls onto the pitch.

Mayhem, basically.

Imagine being in Madrid tonight as Athletico beat their richer neighbours the first time this millennium !!
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

The amount of diving was disgusting. Truly laughable at times. Spanish football needs to seriously do something about the diving because it takes away from some brilliant football at times.

Bradford promoted. Felt sorry for Northampton - fancy getting to Wembley then your team not turning up

Fancy Northampton not getting promoted and having the best manager in the world.

Well done Bradford. They deserve it after the season they have had.

I stopped to fill the car up at nowt apiece. When I got back in it was 2-0

A brilliant season for Bradford fans. Hope they can get a few of the day trippers down to Valley Parade next season.

Every time I see him I'm really impressed with that James Hanson. Another good game from him today, unplayable at times.

Proper old fashioned target man and a real, real handful.

His header, and the cross for it, on the 1st was a quality piece of football.

I like that Nakhi Wells fella. A pacey young lad and the kind of striker I imagine Dougie would be interested in

I hope Spurs didn't have Lasagne for tea last night!

I'd like that. Hope it's start or end of season, could make it a long weekend.

Jamie Redknapp has just referred to the Alliance Arena as "The Helly Hansen", the fecking skutter.

Thank God for that. Cheers to Bruce for updating me via text of score when I was at work. Watched last 15 minutes in leisure centre café and could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Talk about nail biting. Happy St Totteringhams day one and all. Better late then never...

You're very welcome. I really feared it going belly-up for you in injury time after Bale had scored for Spuds and Walcott hit the post, but all's well that ends well. ;)

I nearly cried when Walcott hit the post. Did you hear my screams of joy at the final whistle up in Bolton hun? ;)

Sad really, that its been that bad a season that we celebrate St Totteringhams day so late but hey ho. Hopefully Bale will go now and it will be much earlier next year...

You possibly don't know but Spuds had an absolute nailed-on penalty turned down early on when Bale (who, quite unbelievably, got booked for diving) got dragged down. Hear what you're saying about Spuds reliance on Bale, but isn't it the job of Wenger to make you guys even better, rather than hope that Spuds lose their star player?
Honestly, I reckon that had they kept Van der Vaart and Modric then they'd possibly have gone top two (sorry).

I don't disagree with you there. Wenger has work to do. A lot. But for now i'm just allowing myself a smug smirk. I'm not happy with how the seasons gone for us, far from it. You know its bad when you are celebrating St Totteringhams day the last day of the season. I'm just very, very relieved that it happened at all.

Wenger is already moaning about how tough it will be to compete with all the other teams with loads of money in the transfer market so that bodes well... Sigh.

I think it's pretty bad that they celebrated finishing fourth as though they'd won the league......

How is that different from you getting all dizzily excited at the thought of a play off place? Its all you talked about on here and there would have been many happy, celebrating Bolton fans had you got one...

I disagree. They qualified for the Champion's League when there was a chance that Spurs might instead.
