Aye so their shareholders cream off the profits and the fans are duped into the most expensive tickets in the land with false promises.Lord Kangana wrote:I think you need to think about that for a minute. You'll sell more season tickets promising excitement and talent than prudence and fiscal restraint. Rather 60,000 disgruntled ST holders than 30,000 on board with the best interests of the club at heart.BWFC_Insane wrote:They are making about £40M profit a year purely on the football side.Lord Kangana wrote:So in other words, they've still got a thumping great mortgage then? I have no idea what ring fencing entails, but I'm guessing when the bank comes calling, its not sufficient to answer "sorry, spent that money on players. Haven't you heard of ringfencing old boy?". And is that figure fixed, or based on current interest rates? And if they've been overpaying, but still have that big figure outstanding, surely the situation isn't going to improve significantly anytime soon? No?
IF their hands are tied by the stadium 'mortgage' why not just say that instead of promising big signings and money spent each summer then not delivering?
Surely their fans would be more accepting if the promises were not made by their board in the first place?
In other words 'the very worst example of modern football'.

I don't think not having the cash is an issue, we do. It's just been that all our targets have gone elsewhere so far - and maybe that's because we aren't offering enough money or maybe they don't want to join us, but Wenger and the board know that no big signing means fans will be very unhappy - and even players have spoken out about the need to strengthen - I just worry with time running out that they we will buy poorly in desperation to get anyone at all before the window closes.Prufrock wrote:My mistake if they haven't paid it off, but they did say something along the lines that the stadium costs would no longer have any effect on the transfer money available. They've been mouthing off how they have big cash to spend.
Plus, they've two billionaire's involved, I'm sure there's no danger in finding the stadium money if it came to that.

Ok but I was talking season tickets. Which are to my knowledge more expensive at Arsenal than anywhere else.

Yes, they are, but as far as I know there is still a long waiting list for them so clearly people are prepared to pay the money...BWFC_Insane wrote:Ok but I was talking season tickets. Which are to my knowledge more expensive at Arsenal than anywhere else.

Thus reinforcing my point. People will be scared off from relinquishing them becaues if they do get their act together, they'll never get them back. Transfer speculation fuels that fear/demand.

I'm not doubting it as a successful business model.Lord Kangana wrote:Thus reinforcing my point. People will be scared off from relinquishing them becaues if they do get their act together, they'll never get them back. Transfer speculation fuels that fear/demand.
But then I reckon pay day loans companies have also exploited the market well.
I just don't think Arsenal are an example to be held up for how to run a football club though.
Owned by billionaires, shareholders sharing the profits, huge season ticket costs, lack of investment in the side.

Aren't you just trying to do what most clubs are doing and reduce the wage bill* in preparation for FFP? This has probably been addressed already, but I can't be arsed reading the last 2 pages. Yes, I am very lazy.Gooner Girl wrote:So we have got rid of 17 players this summer and signed 1. We now have such an amount of injuries that we have just 12 first team players fit for Saturdays game against Villa. Sigh.
* The next big signing is just around the corner. I'm almost certain that this might just possibly be almost remotely true. Damn you Napoli!

Nah, I don't think so, we are in far better shape for FFP then most teams are, that's not a major worry.Burnden Paddock wrote:Aren't you just trying to do what most clubs are doing and reduce the wage bill* in preparation for FFP? FFP in the Champions League is a pisstake anyway; you can do it lower down, but is anyone telling Chelsea that Mata and Hazard aren't playing in it, or telling Real that C-Ron is banned? Don't fink so. Here, have a slap on the wrists.

Woah there. Tickets for our game away at Burnley, a Championship game that was shown on live TV, were £28 apiece.seanworth wrote:Did you feel you got excellent value for your ticket today?Gooner Girl wrote:

Some winding in of the neck is due here, I feel.
May the bridges I burn light your way

Not on TV over here though no matter how far I stretched my neck out. On the other hand I did watch the Arsenal game on TV and that match was priceless.Bruce Rioja wrote:Woah there. Should do, they saw even more goals than us.seanworth wrote:Did you feel you got excellent value for your ticket today?

I was going to say at least we got beat by the team that's top of our league, then I remembered Villa are no longer top in the Prem as some geezer called Van Persie scored a couple today too, just to rub some salt in.

Bear in mind that although our ST cost more, they also include 7 fa cup/champions league games which to my knowledge no other club includes. It's not quite as much of a rip off as first appears.BWFC_Insane wrote:I'm not doubting it as a successful business model.Lord Kangana wrote:Thus reinforcing my point. Ok good point, I did not know that, I thought Chelsea did the cup thing too though?Gooner Girl wrote:Bear in mind that although our ST cost more, they also include 7 fa cup/champions league games which to my knowledge no other club includes. Anyhow, do you not think that given the profits made that they should have been investing in the team more than they have done?
Are you worried about missing out on the top 4? Or do you think Wenger will sort it out.

"Arsenal in relegation scrap nightmare". It does beg questions as to what goes on in Wengers head when his side get comfortably beaten at home by a side who nearly went down last season.
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.
