It's childish and embarrassing... the amazing thing that it seems to have found favour with most of the country.

We're fecked. :hang:

t'will be at their peril, the flood of immigrants next year putting more and more services under pressure to the point of breaking will focus a lot of peoples minds with the general election soon after.

Oh really!
Who is putting the BOOM in baby boom?
Who has been jetting in to have said sproggs or for complex operations?
Who is responsable for the fastest rise in crime?
Who is swelling demand for social housing?

You really want to take your head out of your sand bucket (or other dark place) from time to time and look what really is going on around you!

Anyway, BWFC-I's had several hours now to both dissect and refute George Osborne's comments today, but, amazingly, he hasn't come out with anything. Not a single remark one way or t'other! :conf:

He's a politician. His lips were moving. I'd have thought it wouldn't have needed comment to be passed for the truth to be understood by all.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

This fxcking government really doesn't get it. Tw*ts.
Neonicotinoids need banning. America is, Europe is, our parliament wants to, but Cameron and friends probably have too many shares invested in the chemical companies.
Never mind... Bye bye bees, at least we made a profit on the back of annihilation.

Putin's op-ed in the NY Times is surprisingly....good. Especially the ending:
Putin wrote:My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

I would have edited out the bit about God and equality, but the rest sounds a bit like what I like to say. We should be wary of hero complexes. Does America still think it has an international reputation as the champion of freedom? Do we?

Yes Putin is making Obama sound like a bumbling amateur. I'm rather liking it, after the drubbing capitalism dished out to communism. Reveng-eh.

All countries have skeletons in their cupboards and the lack of honesty and plain talking, in particular by elected representatives is a stain on all of us.
Putin is no fool and should be given respect, to do otherwise would be a very dangerous position to take.
