Re: Freedman out!
Tony Pulis, Martin O'Neill and Mick McCarthy would be my top 3, because I think we need someone with experience in charge. Pulis is the best choice out of those for me by quite a distance though.plymouth wanderer wrote:So who would you get in?

Freedman is inept tactically, seems to lack belief in his own ideas, can't organise a defence, can't create chances, is average in the transfer market, is a PR disaster and on top of that, he seems to have lost the players. There is no upside, unless you pin all your hopes on him throwing around buzzwords likes 'sports science' which he's not backed up.

I said 10 games.
I've revised that to 8.

Re: Freedman out!
I agree, but at this stage of his career he needs real quality in his support staff, and I don't think Lawrence, Fleming et al are those guys to give him the advice and support he needs.officer_dibble wrote:Its when now, not if
I still think he'll get yeovil
I actually think there is a good manager in there (unlike coyle) but there are too many problems now. We'll roll the dice andhope for the inevitable lift under a new bloke. But the spineless bastards will continue to let him down.
PS
Gartside shouldnt choose the next one

We need to do something different and get someone who is a better coach than manager, as everyone seems to say we have one of the best squads in the division.

I think I'd give him the Yeovil game, lose and I'd sack him. What confuses me is why he continually picks CYL who is having a shocking season, Simon Charlton said he was static at times today, also hes changing it far too much, for my liking. The team needs stability and to try and keep a clean sheet would be a good start ! Also, when the opposition has a corner, why do we put all players in the box (we have done this for a while) but then we have no outlet and it comes straight back. The whole thing is getting depressing, just Glad I'm off to the races next Saturday as opposed to going the game !

Didn't want him in the first place and I think he's utter shite but sacking him will be a disaster.

Re: Freedman out!
Someone mentioned a rot going through the club. Last 4 managers never got us playing with even a bit of heart. SKD has gone (to a better team than us) so who is left that could encourage the whole team not to put in a shift. We often say we don't mind losing if the team show some guts. I see far better teams every Sunday on Hackney marshes. There is a rot going through the team and not one of the buggers will stand up and tell us what is occurring.
Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.
Re: Freedman out!
The difference though when falling out of the Premier League was that some players can perform in the Champ when having underwhelmed in the top division. Most of the ones we have can't perform in either.officer_dibble wrote:I thought this about being in the championshipdanardif1 wrote:I think it's time for Dougie to go. Sad to say as I think he's a decent chap and very intelligent, but for all that he just can't seem to work out what's wrong with the team and how to go about fixing it.
As for a replacement, I've not a clue, but I get the feeling it's going to get worse before it gets better for Wanderers. Perhaps relegation, a complete clear out of the playing and senior coaching staff and a new recruitment policy would do us a world of good. We've come back from the doldrums before and I'll always support the team but something needs to change or we're in bigger trouble than just falling down to League 1.
Still
Look at leeds. Forest, sheff u, leicester...we're in good company. But we are breaking some embarrassing records doing it...
As case in point, if Bournemouth can assemble a squad on a small budget that gets them promoted into the Championship and then performs well in the first 8 games of this season, we are doing something massively wrong. We have paid players too much for very little real value, our scouting setup is poor and the whole club seems to have a sense of entitlement that is now holding them back.

Lee had a good game on Tues against Derby... He deserved the start today... And from the sound of it had a poor match (like everyone else)...YtarmyYtarmy wrote:I think I'd give him the Yeovil game, lose and I'd sack him. That said, I'm not convinced by Freedman. Either way.

Why another game?
The damage has been done.
Re: Freedman out!
I wouldn't mind McClaren, he's a very good coach as you say, but he's definitely getting paid too much at QPR to leave.gizmothevoomer wrote:1 Steve Mclaren ( Coaching at QPR )plymouth wanderer wrote:So who would you get in?

Contributing very very little end product and isn't tracking runners.
Other players get abuse for doing a lot more than Lee does.

Re: Freedman out!
Tony Pulis - We don't really have the players to suit the way his teams have always played. We've no money to change that, so not really going to work for me (aside from the fact I'd hate to watch his team play).SmokinFrazier wrote:Tony Pulis, Martin O'Neill and Mick McCarthy would be my top 3, because I think we need someone with experience in charge. Martin O'Neill - Has done well in the past. Has spent very large sums of money to build teams. I also think his days as a good manager are behind him. The game has moved on. His teams are seriously depressing.
Mick McCarthy - Might stabilise us, might not. He'd be a short term fix and I believe we need a long term fix if we're to get out of the spiral of failure we're in. He's in work and unlikely to come now anyway.

Re: Freedman out!
Get Pulis in now....someone who actually knows how to organise & manage a football team not a novice.
Freedman talks a good game, but week after week sets the team up initially not to lose which hands the initiative to the opposition straight
away. He is tactically very naive
He's a young inexperienced apprentice learning his trade, and he may well be a decent manager in 4 or 5 years time, but he shouldn't be using us to experiment and learn the job
He has on numerous occasions had 6 defensive players in his team and yet we still concede 2 or 3, because we sit back and invite pressure - clueless....

Some pissed up old fella on Jimmy Wagg's phone in on GMR has just suggested Phil Brown to replace Freedman. FFS.

Re: Freedman out!
Very true. Everyone seems to see Eagles as the luxury player but Lee is seemingly getting his name on the team sheet mainly because he's foreign (so he's bound to be better than our English plodders right!?!). Much more of a luxury than Eagles and very little product for it as well.BWFC_Insane wrote:Lets face it CYL has been a passenger for the whole of last season and now this.William the White wrote:Lee had a good game on Tues against Derby... Do the players we've got suit Pulis? Cos he won't be able to bring new ones in.

We've also got the 'Bring back Kevin Davies' brigade.CrazyHorse wrote:Some pissed up old fella on Jimmy Wagg's phone in on GMR has just suggested Phil Brown to replace Freedman. FFS.
