"It's something we'll be looking at"

If he was honest he would have said yes but by how much we would have to look at when we see the books. We have to look at priorities on a large scale to help the low paid and those out of work and this would be a part of it.

He's by far the worst I've ever seen though. They asked him what he thought about accusations of racism in local government and he just refused to talk about it. Repeating almost word-for-word some spiel about valuing the work of people in local government. That's not side-stepping a difficult question, that's just refusing to go into the area at all. When a Labour council has fallen apart over accusations of racism, it's not a bear-trap question to ask what's going on. It's a bizarre habit, it's jarring, and makes him look like a dick.

HG - I'm far from convinced there is no middle ground between that and calling all women sluts!

I'm not suggesting that they answer every question posed to them in full candour all the time -that would be mental, but sometimes you have to talk about the hard stuff!

Oh aye - the point remains though. It was a light hearted remark and seemingly appreciated by the folk it was aimed at and those that were there. Then there was this faux shock horror amongst the press and hey presto there was a story.

As a disclaimer I would add - I think the bloke is a dick, no doubt a misogynist and was in a party full of such types

Maybe somebody who knows could enlighten me. In my enfeebled state over the last week, I've watched a lot of TV, most of it 'news'.
I'm just wondering whether there's something political re the fact that two major Muslims who aren't really Muslims deliberately slaughtering non-Muslims events have unfolded before us, and yet the 80 Christian Pakistanis, who were slaughtered by Pakistani Muslims-who-aren't-really-Muslims, got about ten seconds of airtime, whereas the 70? odd non-Muslims who were slaughtered by the Muslims-who-are-not-really-Muslims in Nairobi got hours and hours of airtime. Why?
Not, why did the Muslims-who-are-not-Muslims do it. I know that, that's fxclung obvious. I mean, why only ten seconds for the 80 versus the hours for the 70?

Actually I'd renationalise the gas electric and water companies as of national strategic importance. They would be run like private companies but all profits would go on reinvestment and to help our social bills.
Having control over these companies would help business, in paticular manufacturing by stablelising their energy costs to quite a high degree, I'd build Nuclear power stations by using the money being earmarked for the rediculous HS2 which would still create construction and other jobs all across the whole country. Wind farms and such silly pipedreams would be shelved, the benefits of nuclear power would be a vast reduction in our reliance on fosil fuels and leave us not at the mercy of overseas powers nor profiteering grabbing markets.
Long term with slashing migration to this country we would be a nice low tax attractive, fair, investment ecconomy, something you will never get if left to the greed of the markets.
