Liverpool laughing stocks?

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Ooooh. Difficult question, seeing as Man U under Fergusson took over the mantle of greatest British manager directly from Liverpool. And the last successful manager there, both as player, player-manager and then manager was Dalglish (forgetting of course Benitez's European success). And then he became the only manager of afootball club to lift the Premiership outside of the usual suspects. And you think that's just ordinary, do you?

Ok, maybe the wording was shite, how about within the last twenty years then. Of course Mourinho's a giant... There are a few and they'd include Wenger. They wouldn't not include Dalglish.

I don't see Celtic falling over themselves to have this walking disaster back on board. Funny that.

Now I know there's a lot of anti Liverpool feeling on this forum, but come on, if you had a list of the greatest British managers you'd have to include Dalgleish amongst Fergusson, Clough, Stein, Revie, Shankly, et al. Surely?
If not then FSG don't know what they're doing...and I think just from their American operations, it's plain that they do

No, I wouldn't....Didn't they hire him as manager, then sack him....that would indicate they didn't know what they were doing.

No. No, 1,000 times no. Not at all, not ever.

No.

Tremendous logic... which would indicate that nobody in football knows what they're doing, because there's not a single club that's not hired and then fired a manager.

As I believe I made plain: a whole heap of goodwill descends back on FSG due to the scousers having their idol back on board, and FSG have one less potential back stabbing bast*rd lurking in the bushes. Hence why I said it was a canny move.

Goodwill?! So it's about as canny as kids for a quid day. I hear there's a new bloke in the mascot costume too.

It's yet another example of sports journos trying to make a story about anything, anything at all.

:conf: Am I a sports journo now? Do we as Bolton fans not look out for the tiniest hints as to what goes on behind the scenes? I hardly think it's a story that's been made up...he has been made a director, no journalist is not going to report that, are they???

leaving aside the canniness or otherwise of the Liverpool board/owners...

managerial greatness is pretty subjective - lists of trophies/honours hardly tell the full story... but Kenny's managerial cupboard contains, as far as i can tell:

4 first div/premiership champions trophies (3 with liverpool and one with blackburn)
2 FA cups and 1 league cup
1 scottish league cup

it's not bad - but nowt in europe - and there would be several needing bigger cupboards for their trophies than he'd need...

Correct, not hiding in the bushes. Walking the corridors in full view. I've heard "keep your enemies close" but thie performance this tw@t gave while Hodgson was there and then he miraculously was available to replace him was so obviously malevolent he deserved to have his history expunged.

Then he pissed about £100m up a wall.

Some hero. Only Scousers could admire him.

I'm sure they would argue the Hillsborough stuff outweighs any poor transfer policy, and they all hated Hodgson anyway

However, this sounds like a way to pay him £100k a year for bugger all!
