Who was the other giant?Lost Leopard Spot wrote:I have tried to explain that. I believe I'm amending an impression I wrongly gave. Let me help you to understand where I'm not backtracking: I think, still despite the vehemence displayed towards him, that Dalglish was a great manager. The spotty one wrote (before he started backtracking): The 'giants' of the last twenty years were Fergie and Dalglish...
Now you're saying he's comparable to Clough and Wenger who have had 'hardly stellar' careers.
If you backtrack any more you're going to hit your head on your mum's Uterus.

Just because I'm describing them as giants, it's because I admire their achievements. It doesn't mean I like them. Far from it, in fact I detest old red nose, but only a fool would be so biased to lack an acknowledgement of his impact on the game.

Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
If I recall correctly, and memory (especially on my part) is a fickle thing, Liverpool were the top dominant team and were coming up towards their twentieth League championship. It was widely acknowledged at the time that the bootroom dynasty instigated by Shankly were amongst the most successful managerial team of all time. Manchester United were still a force, but nowhere near as successful as the Busby days when along came Ferguson. It was almost immediately obvious to 'those who know football'Annoyed Grunt wrote:Im just struggling with you calling them giants.....I can't see how they could've been back then..

See above. It's how I remember it. Don't you? I know you say you're a Bolton fan not a football fan, but cast your mind back to the race for the eighteenth/nineteenth league championship. Maybe it's just me thenthebish wrote:nobody would argue with that - it's the giant KENNY bit people are struggling with!!Lost Leopard Spot wrote:Just because I'm describing them as giants, it's because I admire their achievements. Charming. There are some people it is a pleasure to debate stuff with, and there are others who are complete wankers and I think you are a paragon of onanism.Annoyed Grunt wrote:I think you're talking out of your arse......Lost Leopard Spot wrote:If I recall correctly, and memory (especially on my part) is a fickle thing, Liverpool were the top dominant team and were coming up towards their twentieth League championship. Because you're not actually arguing anything. You're just having a go. That's either because you disagree but won't debate, or because you're on the windup. That's why.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Why? Because I disagree with what your saying?

United were not a force in the English game, Liverpool were. They were not on their way to a 20th league title. Kenny hadn't built a team to dominate, he inherited a team and when it came to rebuilding, he quit......
Re: Liverpool laughing stocks?
I still don't get what Dalglish is supposed to be bringing of benefit. It clearly can't be anything managerial as, whether or not he was great in the 80s, more recent events have demonstrated he certainly ain't any more, and even if he was, it would be a bit 'Newcastle' to start f*cking around over a manager's head when he's doing well, and defo not 'canny'.
What else does he bring, other than someone for the fans to sing about. Which they did anyway. I'm not sure anyone who doubted FSG before now suddenly thinks they're great.
It's a non-story!

I really wish I'd not started this. It's quite obvious that I alone share an admiration for Dalglish that is shared with no-one else but complete RAWK tossers. I apologise and can only say I have no idea how this aberation has managed to infest my febrile brain. I shall do my best to divest myself of these perverse and fetishistic thoughts. I shall go to sleep tonight repeating "I am talking through my arse, I am talking through my arse, I am talking..."
