Let me help you to understand where I'm not backtracking: I think, still despite the vehemence displayed towards him, that Dalglish was a great manager. I believe, at the time Fergie was making a name for himself that he was one of the two giants in English football at that time. I think that FSGs appointment of him as a director is 'canny'. I understand that these views are contntious - that has been made very clear. I'm not trying to wind anybody up, but my mother's uterus is safe from me bumping my head against it, ta.

Just because I'm describing them as giants, it's because I admire their achievements. It doesn't mean I like them. Far from it, in fact I detest old red nose, but only a fool would be so biased to lack an acknowledgement of his impact on the game.

United were not a force in the English game, Liverpool were. They were not on their way to a 20th league title. Kenny hadn't built a team to dominate, he inherited a team and when it came to rebuilding, he quit......

I still don't get what Dalglish is supposed to be bringing of benefit. It clearly can't be anything managerial as, whether or not he was great in the 80s, more recent events have demonstrated he certainly ain't any more, and even if he was, it would be a bit 'Newcastle' to start f*cking around over a manager's head when he's doing well, and defo not 'canny'.

What else does he bring, other than someone for the fans to sing about. Which they did anyway. I'm not sure anyone who doubted FSG before now suddenly thinks they're great.
