Indeed. We look a threat down both flanks and through the middle.
Won't get the attention but Gerrard and Carrick have been different class. Right pass at the right time every time.
Bound to feck it up though, Lewandowski could've had three, and he doesn't miss many.

Theo can run... The end.thebish wrote:Prufrock wrote:I think that half is as good as I've ever seen England going forward. Fook me Townsend is good, I'll be astounded if he's got 90 minutes of that in him though!
this townsend bloke - he's like Theo would be if theo had any kind of end-product...
not used to this - we kinda look like we know what we're doing...
it won't last!
Townsend can dribble, pass, has strength and a hell of a shot on him. Similar mould to Bale.

Bloody hell. Why do we have to go right the way through the qualifiers, playing absolutely shite and when it matters we start to turn on the style. It's just a shame that our forward line keeps falling over its own bloody feet.

Re: Tonight's Football
England probably look very good to Polish supporters. I get the jips everytime they get forward. We've surely created chances enough, but Wellbeck 's banjos and cows arse's right now. Surprised not to see Lampard in there. Our only real problem is avoiding getting hit on the break, because they surely look dangerous when getting near our goal. All said, we're winning and we look better than we have for a fair while. Good game in fairness. Come on England.....

Great atmosphere. Cracking game and some really good incisive attacking play on show. This is what international football should be like, but so often isn't.

Think Cahill might have just saved a goal there.

Rooney man or the match? Really????
Re: Tonight's Football
I enjoyed that.
Also enjoyed Friday.
It's great enjoying England play.
They might just have my belief again this summer.

Re: Tonight's Football
Not for me. Played well enough but his passes were too often wayward and gave tha ball away. There were a fair few of them for me, Gerard not the least. He was the engine room and never stopped moving around all night. Capped a great display with a terrific goal. Cahill had a cracker in defence too. Sturridge and Webeck took a lot of hammer up front from some clogging and both did well. Townsand, a real find. Well done the lot of them.Worthy4England wrote:Rooney man or the match? Really????

Re: Tonight's Football
was just thinking that Gerard wasn't really THAT much of an influence on the game - when he scores - and fantastic finish (however much it peeves me to have to say so!)

Well, I thought that Welbeck looked like a man who'd won a competition, as he so often does. Well done and a hip-hip-hurray to the others though.

Cahill doesn't always convince me in an England shirt but I thought he had a great game tonight. Agree on Welbeck though - worked his knackers off

Play Germany next month in a friendly so that should be a test.

Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.
Re: Tonight's Football
In other news, Daniel Braaten scored for Norway against Eidur's Iceland, who are now in the playoffs. 320,000 people in that country - great stuff.

Re: Tonight's Football
Great to see England players running at defenders and able to control the ball at the same time for the first time since Paul Gascoigne.
And now we're through.
That's good.
On the downside Montenegro were one of the worst sides I've seen in a long time and although Poland weren't great either they both still managed to create some really good chances that you'd think the German's of this world, the Argies of this world or the Spains of this world won't miss.
Every time the ball goes near Joe Hart my heart is in my mouth while at the other end the number of clear cut chances the forwards spurned is quite worrying.
Having said all that I'm happier watching England now than I have been for a long long time. We might not be great but at least we're not just smashing it up field for Darius or Mickey to chase after.
Some good performances from Baines, Cahill, Gerrard and of course a good finish from Rooney.
Well done Mr Roy. Credit where it's due.
Prepare to be sacked if we don't win.
One last thing felt sorry for the boy last night. He missed the first goal when Missus shouted him into the back room for something and then missed the second when he went for a pee.

I'm not asking you to 'think outside the box' I just wish you'd have a rummage around in it once in a while.
