I'm becoming very angry about the use of old songs in adverts. It's irritating me how ads are increasing using a soppy female vocal cover of old songs after a couple of decent ones. Unoriginal band-wagon jumping bastards. Latest poor one is the version of Primal Scream's 'Movin' On Up'.
It's becoming almost every other ad.
The other that upsets me is the Barclays one with some shit rapper doing a version of Ian Dury's 'Reasons To Be Cheerful'. Have to mute it otherwise I get irate. I realise this is a disproportionate reaction but it reflects accurately my general state of mind!

Nah, it's for a car, Vauxhall I think. I know because it drives me insane too, reaching a crescendo at the awful, nasal ghastly 'It's more than, just a vehicle, gaaan home, sweet home'.

speculation on the UK news that this was caused by the military... any truth in that?

Speculation here, too, thebish - it seems that the army is investigating. Whilst it's certainly the biggest fire at the moment (30,000+ hectares as at last night) it's not the worst in terms of property damage.

Incidentally, the local fire and another about 30km to the west of me have been confirmed as having been started by fallen power lines so I've got to withdraw my comment regarding arsonist. Mind you, they are active; One twelve year old and one thirteen year old girl were arrested for fire lighting yesterday. Note the ages. They were described by the constabulary as "known to police". It's a sad world at times, reverend.
