Re: Today I'm angry about.....
I think this has been raised before .... the basis of Sussex's bonfires are alarmingly anti-Catholic. Some years ago I attended the Crowborough bonfire celebration. It was huge, very well done, very friendly but there were anti-Papist placards and the 'Guy' was dressed up as the Pope.
When I mentioned this to a couple of locals it had never entered their heads that it was just a teensy bit inappropriate.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

i may have said this last year - every year we have this same conversation.. best approach is to open the door really fast and scream a blood-curdling scream at them and chase them down the path...Abdoulaye's Twin wrote:Bastards better not be knocking on my door. A bit late for this year, but I've been thinking of ways of dissuading them. Next year I'm going all Heston and going to make some vile tasting stuff and make it look like sweets. That'll stop them coming back, though the Americans'll probably not notice as their chocolate tastes like shit anyway.
it WILL make them cry and want to go home and it WILL prompt parents to tell you that it is out of order for you to scare the children - at which point you simply have to ask why they have dressed their kids in "horror" clothes and sent them to your door in order expressly to scare you...
result...
am in my mum's house this year and she is a away - so she will ultimately take the flak!

Drove through Crowborough once or twice on my way down to Newhaven. I remember there being a sign proclaiming it to be the place where Conan Doyle used to live. A pub I used to drive past was called The Deerstalker. You should throw the people of Crowborough onto the fire for their lack of imagination.

Crowborough is not a place in Sussex I have the need to visit very often. Newhaven is just a dump!Bruce Rioja wrote:Bring it.Gooner Girl wrote:Only in Crowborough, here in Lindfield we just burn northenersBruce Rioja wrote:You ritually burn Catholics? No you need to find a few other places to rant about first, Hastings maybe (which is not halve as bad as everyone claims).
The above post is complete bollox/garbage/nonsense, please point this out to me at any and every occasion possible.
Re: Today I'm angry about.....
Yet another boot in Europes head!Chris Grayling, the Justice Secretary, said "human rights laws need to change" after Scotland Yard released figures showing that just one in 100 foreigners arrested in London are removed from this country.
It comes amid growing police concern about the number of “foreign national offenders”. More than a quarter of people arrested in London, equivalent to 70,000 people, are from overseas, with about half of them from outside the European Union.Mr Grayling told The Telegraph: "If anybody said to me I think we need to deport more foreign prisoners and foreign offenders, I would agree wholeheartedly.
"Very often attempts to deport [foreign prisoners] run into problems with the Human Rights Act, which is another reason why human rights laws need to change.
And that is without this lot
