You don't need to ask that anymore - you can check the Met Office website for any flood warnings in Surrey.
Doesn't matter if Surrey floods, I live in Sussex! :P
It's downhill. It'll be those that you drown.
We have a stream just outside our house it would go into, the stream runs all the way to Wales (probably)

It's not geography that you teach then, is it !!

Why do these people think this?

I know nothing of the competing evidence here other than to say it seems unlikely on the face of it, as that was a hell of distance to travel in those days. :conf:
A distance that half of England, France and a lot more folk (including Kings) managed to travel during the Crusades. They got to Turkey and reached the Holy Land from there by sailing. Travelling was hardly unknown and allowed the Romans to conquer half the world.
But those guys were on... a crusade!

Seriously though - is there any reason some people think Jesus came to England?

Yes ... because as an overtly Christian country whose Empire ruled 1/3 of the World it suited the CofE, the Governments and the employers to keep people focused on the religion and that God, if on Earth couldn't possibly have failed to have wanted to come to England (not Britain, mind you ... England).

It confirms so many givens of the leaders of the time and added to the belief of the lower classes that they were a special race.

Joseph of Arimathea was Jesus' uncle and toured much of Europe and brought Jesius with him when he came to Glastonbury, hence the Thorn Tree. His great *20 grandson is Michael Eavis and he created lay-lines which were like ancient Broadband.

I don't see what more proof you need.

no - not a serious one other than lunatic fantasy.

Tango quotes a Scottish Cleric whose ace reasoning runs to this bit of Channel 5-esque rigorous logic:
"He needed to go around to learn bits and pieces about ancient wisdom, and the druids in Britain went back hundreds if not thousands of years. He probably came here to meet the druids, to share his wisdom and gain theirs."
:conf: why did Jesus need to go around to learn bits and pieces about ancient wisdom? how on earth does anything he says lead to the conclusion that Jesus probably came here?

it's all a total and complete back of bollox like the whole Grail bollox and the whole King Arthur bollox.

Because who could be arsed to lift 4 million tonnes of masonry to reach an unused blade? Just go to Boots* and buy new.

Church of Scotland minister Dr Gordon Strachan makes the claim in a new film entitled And Did Those Feet.

He's just trying to wind you lot up, has always been an argumentative git in his press conferences.

Plus William The White thought of that title first, did he not patent it? Sue The SFA !!!

My lovely employers recently sent round a lovely leaflet telling me they were so concerned about staff welfare, that they are now offering discounted Indian head massages and other 'holistic treatments'. Keen to take advantage as they are done in works time (And at this point, I'd like to thank the taxpayers out there), I've booked a 30 minute aromatherpay massage for 16 quid at 2pm.

This should possibly go in the happy thread, but I haven't yet seen the masseur. An afternoon smelling like a tart's handbag is in the offing :-)

Some tree hugging bint from the flopsy-wopsy branch of HR dreamt this one up I guess ? This sort of shite fit one business imperative in bobo-World .... to have some easy pickings available next time someone demands cut-backs.

I can't quite work out your view of your employers Bob.

The line "Keen to take advantage as they are done in works time" is a worry. This will be from the over-staffed/under-utilized role you at once fear losing, yet seem to hate.

I see why you lot need Indian Head Massage. :)

The Tories are guilty .... of not cutting enough and leaving doe-eyed bints capable of making these sort of decisions in employment.

I started to reply Bobo, but to be honest, I'm really not sure what I think of my employers. Half of me has sympathy for the people here who are constantly struggling to cope with knee jerk re-organisations, the other half is staggered by the endless waste of resources it all entails. I can only work at my bit of the jigsaw and hope I can make a difference.

In order to counter the confusion you have now engendered, I definitely need a massage and time to reflect on the issue.

In the scheme of things, I'm not sure I'm going to get angry about a bit of Indian Head Massage, when no-one seems to yet have gone to jail for the rest of their natural lives over the Banking Crisis.

But yeah, all the fault of Indian Head Masseuses at £10/hr or whatever. F*ck it, pay them £20/hr if it helps the argument along.
